The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a stylish, premium subcompact luxury SUV with real off-road capability — and a few minor problems. Pricing starts at $51,175.
One of the first subcompact luxury SUVs to hit the streets, the Evoque is still a leader of the segment and easily the best off-roader in the class. Despite its small footprint, the Evoque still benefits from the premium materials and design found in the larger Range Rover models. High-tech features, plenty of custom options, and unique style are also part of the formula.
Despite these strengths, the Evoque also has some shortcomings that place it near the bottom of our rankings among its rivals. Those rivals include the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current crop of subcompact luxury SUVs, including the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a starting sticker price of $51,175, with the range-topping Range Rover Evoque P250 Dynamic SE kicking off at $56,175. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $2,170 to $2,714 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.
MSRP | KBB Fair Purchase Price (national avg.) | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
$51,175 | $49,005 | |||
$56,175 | $53,461 |
The Range Rover Evoque has the highest starting price in the class at just over $51,000. The Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLA all start in the low- to mid-$40,000s.
Before buying a Range Rover Evoque, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying. The Evoque’s resale value is about average for the segment.
The Evoque’s turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is peppy enough for everyday driving, and the standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is as welcome in snow as it is on the trail. It’s not the sportiest SUV in the segment on pavement, but it still corners well.
Around town, the Evoque is quiet and comfortable. On the highway, the ride is smooth and stable. Off-road, the Evoque rapidly leaves its competition behind. It’s easily the best off-roader we’ve driven in the subcompact luxury class. The included Terrain Response 2 and All Terrain Progress Control (basically an off-road cruise control system) help make it even easier to off-road the Evoque.
The 2025 Range Rover Evoque gets 22 mpg combined (20 city/27 highway). Compared to its competition, which gets 25-28 mpg combined, that’s not very good. The Evoque has standard all-wheel drive, but so do the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
We enjoyed our time with the Range Rover Evoque and loved its upscale design and top-tier materials. If the standard leather upholstery isn’t to your taste, the Premium Upgrade Interior Pack offers Ultrafabrics seats, Kvadrat or eucalyptus textiles, and Dinamica suedecloth. The Evoque’s cabin is highly customizable, from the upholstery to the trim to the headliner to the colors of each.
Seating space is sufficient up front, but the rear seat is a bit more cramped. Compared to other vehicles in the class, the Evoque’s 33.8 inches of rear legroom isn’t bad, but roomier options exist, like the BMW X1 and its 37 inches of legroom or the Audi Q3 with 36.1 inches. The Evoque has 21.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, slightly less than the Q3’s 23.7 cubic feet and the X1’s 25.7.
The smallest of the Range Rover line, the Evoque wears its design traits well, not looking too busy or cramped despite its small footprint. The Land Rover Range Rover brand image comes through loud and clear, with a high-class, high-tech style. The Dynamic SE variant adds a dose of sporty design to the mix with different front—and rear-end treatments and special wheels.
Standard AWD
Many other luxury compact SUVs come with standard all-wheel drive, but the Range Rover Evoque takes it to the next level. It’s not just suitable for a snowy driveway — it’s up for a real challenge.
Pivi Pro
A vibrant screen backed by Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, and a self-learning navigation system makes the Pivi Pro infotainment system powerful and easy to use.
Touch Pro Duo
If the idea of a second 10-inch touchscreen in the center stack with access to even more information and control sounds good, give this option a look.
Terrain Response 2
This system analyzes the terrain using the Evoque’s sensors to automatically adapt to a range of surfaces. It’s standard on all Evoque models.
Premium Upgrade Interior Pack
If the budget allows, this is a recommended addition to the Evoque’s feature sheet. The premium carpet mats, illuminated metal sill plates, ebony suedecloth headliner, and premium cabin lighting elevate the already premium cabin to another tier.
Dynamic Handling Pack
This optional package adds sportier on-road handling via adaptive dampers and more configurable throttle mapping, shift points, steering settings, and suspension performance, plus red brake calipers.
There’s just one powertrain available in the 2025 Evoque, the P250. It includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive. The engine is rated at 246 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, which is about average for entry-level engines for the class.
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
The Range Rover Evoque has a 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. That coverage is typical among European luxury brands, but the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, and Jaguar E-Pace all come with a period of complimentary maintenance.
Safety
The Range Rover Evoque hasn’t been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). However, it is well-equipped with standard safety features. Every Evoque comes with front and rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and more.
