The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas is one of the most spacious and user-friendly 3-row midsize-crossover SUVs. It also brings a pinch of European flavor to its driving experience. Although more power wouldn’t go amiss, the Atlas is a worthy rival to better-established names like the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.
New Features and Revisions
Some advanced driver aids become standard, along with rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and heated side mirrors. The number of trim levels expands from five to seven (adding a couple of R-Line variants to the SE w/Technology and SEL trims), and the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit (a configurable driver-information display replacing the conventional gauge cluster) is now standard in the SEL trim, which also gains navigation, LED taillights and a heated steering wheel.
