"I bought this truck after "wanting one", or one like it, for over 25 years. My expectations were very high and I was afraid maybe too much so. Thankfully, this was not the case. I wanted a good-looking, reliable, functional, long-lasting, pickup truck that would retain its value and not be too bad on fuel economy. I can't think of any truck that accomplishes these things better than the Tacoma. I also wanted 4wd for those quick snows, where everything shuts down (roads included), that we get in this area.
I got the Double Cab, 4X4, Long bed 6'2" (long wheel base), SR5 model. I wanted to be able to haul 8' cut lumber on my regular trips to/from the home improvement stores.
The truck exterior looks rugged and seems to be built mostly from steel. To me, it looks well made and like it could take a beating. It has excellent aesthetics, great ground clearance, and neat features like the composite bed, slow lowering tailgate, fog lamps, and fender flares.
The interior is well appointed, with XM radio, CD, Auxiliary, USB ports, color-match trim, leather wrapped steering wheel, gear selector, and hand brake, and a really neat GoPro camera mount on the windshield.
I am averaging between 22-24mpg fuel economy and that is with mostly rural driving on country roads.
There are plenty of tie-downs in the bed as well as hidden compartments both inside and out for stowing just about anything.
The factory radio is crisp and clear with pretty good mids as well as bass.
So, here I am, enjoying my new truck...waiting on the first snow ;-)"
