For 2016, the Ford Taurus sedan ditches the temperamental MyFord Touch system in favor of a greatly improved Sync 3 infotainment setup. The Taurus SE gains a standard rearview monitor. All three engines see their 2016 fuel economy figures ratcheted down a few notches.

The Taurus carries over with only a handful of minor changes. There are three new exterior colors, plus a re-juggling of what features are standard equipment on which models. For example, a rearview camera is now standard on the SE sedan, as is Ford Sync.

Changes to the 2014 Ford Taurus are minimal. The Limited and SHO trims now offer the Lane Keeping System which uses the electric power steering and audible warnings to help keep the car from drifting out of its intended lane.

For 2013, the Ford Taurus receives a mild exterior freshening, with a new grille and headlight treatment, new wheel designs, and larger LED taillights. A new EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is offered, delivering V6-like performance and 32-mpg highway fuel economy. New features include an available heated steering wheel.

From Ford's perspective the 2010 Ford Taurus is more than a full-size sedan; it's also a flagship for the brand as a whole. As Ford's standard bearer, the Taurus has become a technology and design showcase, showing off the capabilities of the Blue Oval.

Ford's AdvanceTrac electronic stability control is made standard, as are a few previously optional features. A new entry-level trim, the SE, is added to the lineup.

About Ford Taurus

Ford’s 2016 Taurus full-size sedan may be getting a little old and a bit behind the competition, but it still has its admirers. You’ll find more room, better visibility and a more modern interior in cars like the Toyota Avalon, Chevrolet Impala and even the Dodge Charger, but the Taurus offers a wider range of trims, engines and features, including the high-performance Taurus SHO. Offering an economical 2.0-liter turbo on the SEL and Limited trims, plus available all-wheel drive with the V6 (it’s standard on the SHO), the Taurus bests the front-drive-only Impala and Avalon. But the Taurus doesn’t offer a hybrid model, nor are its driver-assist features as up to date as many of its newer, more technically advanced competitors.

"Vehicle has all the performance and bells and whistles for this type of car. There should be more distinction between a regular Taurus and the SHO models. The exterior should be more aggressive for the SHO models."

Pros: "Sharp look, excellent handling, wide tires"

Cons: "Good for its size but wish for better mpg"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I love the feel and handling characteristics of the 2010 Ford Taurus. Quiet and powerful. It feels (and sounds) the same at 55 as it does at 80 (or more). The interior leather with heated and cooled seats are a perk worth having, and so is the sunroof. The cockpit design is roomy and comfortable with good lumbar support where it's needed. The trunk is HUGE which is important for me since I move every couple years for the military! It got my family of four and all our luggage and gifts including a Power Wheels jeep home from Christmas vacation. I get about 23 mpg in the city and 27 on the hwy. I still get compliments on how sharp this car looks, and I've had it for about 4 years now. My favorite comment was a guy who said "That car isn't your daddy's Taurus." The sharp new look combined with all the safety features makes this my favorite car owned yet. I would definitely buy another."
