Pros

  • Best-in-class towing and payload capacity
  • Helpful tech for towing and work
  • Great work and luxury features

Cons

  • Diesel option is pricey

What's New?

  • New tech and packages
  • New styling options

With best-in-class towing and payload capacity, powerful engines, and helpful tow tech, the 2026 Ford Super Duty is ready for hard work. Pricing starts at $48,770.

But the Super Duty lineup brings more to the table than just work-readiness, as these are well-rounded pickups built to take on family duty, camping, off-road adventures, and more, with cabins as spartan or as luxurious as you want.

The Super Duty lineup includes the F-250 and F-350, as well as the commercial-work-biased F-450. These are the trucks you want if you need to tow and haul more than half-ton trucks, like the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, or Ram 1500 can.

The Super Duty lineup offers higher towing and payload capacity than its Chevy, GMC, and Ram rivals. There are multiple cab, bed, and wheelbase lengths, as well as a choice of gas or diesel engines. The Super Duty uses tech to help when towing and hauling, and for parking and navigation while towing, plus it comes with embedded 5G technology.

We’ve tested this entire generation of heavy-duty trucks, including the F-250.

What's New for 2026

The biggest news is the addition of new packages. There’s the Lariat Premium Package, a mix of popular towing and convenience features for the 4-wheel-drive(4WD) Lariat Crew Cab with the 7.3-liter V8. The STX Appearance Package’s availability has expanded to include dual-rear-wheel F-350 models in addition to single-rear-wheel models. The Tremor off-road package is now available with the standard-output 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine.

In addition, the SuperCab/6.5-foot bed combination on a 148-inch wheelbase is back for 2026. And there are two new colors: Argon Blue Metallic and Marsh Gray Metallic.

2026 Ford F250 Super Duty Regular Cab Pricing

The 2026 Ford F250 Super Duty Regular Cab has a starting sticker price of $48,770, with the range-topping F250 Super Duty Regular Cab XLT kicking off at $51,970. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $2,070 to $2,470 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

MSRP
KBB Fair Purchase Price (national avg.)
$48,770
$46,700
$51,970
$49,500

The best-selling combinations in the Super Duty line are the 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab Lariat, closely followed by the 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab XL.

The Super Duty’s competitors are the Ram HD, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, and the GMC Sierra HD. The Ford’s starting price is within about $1,500 of all three, the Sierra HD being the most expensive.

Before buying a new Super Duty truck, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to see what others in your area paid for theirs. Ford’s Super Duty lineup tends to hold an edge in resale value over its heavy-duty competitors. Keep in mind that the more money you recoup when selling or trading in a vehicle, the more you have to put down on your next one.

Power, Ride, and Handling

Both the F-250 and F-350 are surprisingly comfortable and easy to drive, and of the two, the F-250 is ever-so-slightly more comfortable. The F-450, designed for the most hard-core work duty, has the least compliant ride of the three.

As if having three cabs, three bed lengths, and five wheelbase lengths weren’t enough, there are also four engines to choose from. All of them are robust. Both gas engines are responsive and plenty powerful, and acceleration is excellent off the line. However, if you need to tow a huge trailer or boat, the turbodiesel engines offer up to 38,000-lb towing capacity in the F-350, and the High Output turbodiesel has the most horsepower and torque in this segment.

Powertrain Horsepower Torque Transmission
6.8-liter gas V8 405 hp @ 5,000 rpm 445 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm 10-speed automatic
7.3-liter gas V8 430 hp @ 5,500 rpm 485 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm 10-speed automatic
6.7-liter diesel V8 475 hp @ 2,600 rpm 1,050 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm 10-speed automatic
6.7-liter diesel V8 (HO) 500 hp @ 2,600 rpm 1,200 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm 10-speed automatic

Whether carrying several thousand pounds of cargo in the bed or having a 38,000-pound trailer hooked up, the Super Duty feels solid and confident and never feels like it’s wanting for power. The 10-speed automatic transmission does a terrific job of managing power, whether towing on a grade or driving this Ford unladen. Steering and braking have just the right amount of response and predictability, and the Super Duty feels wonderfully civilized around town. While parking isn’t as easy as it is with an F-150, and the ride isn’t quite as pleasant, this is a minor trade-off for those who need extra work capability.

Payload and Towing

With the F-Series Super Duty setup, the 6.8-liter engine provides the maximum payload capacity of 8,000 pounds. This is the best payload capacity in the heavy-duty truck class.

With the gas engines, the maximum towing capacity is 22,500 pounds; that goes up to 40,000 pounds with the High Output turbodiesel. Maximum towing capacity is 23,000 pounds with the F-250, 38,000 pounds with the F-350, and a class-leading 40,000 pounds with the F-450.

Fuel Economy

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not require automakers to provide fuel mileage estimates for trucks this size. Still, these big, powerful machines are obviously among the thirstiest vehicles on the road.

Tough But Refined Interior

The 2026 Super Duty offers room for three to six passengers, depending on the cab. The SuperCab has good legroom in the second row, but for the most space – and 10 inches more legroom — look for the Crew Cab, where there is a generous 43.6 inches of legroom. In addition, as you move up the line of trim levels, interiors go from basic workhorse to opulent. Take, for example, the base XL. It has a cloth bench seat and black vinyl floors. Moving up through the five trim levels, the amount of standard convenience, tech, and luxury features increases until you reach the Platinum – and the Platinum Plus package. At the top of the line, passengers can enjoy comfortable leather seats with heat and ventilation. When it’s time for a break, the available Max Recline front seats can fold flat. A 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system is available.

If you want to use the Super Duty for work, the center console Work Surface makes the center storage a flat workstation where you can easily use a laptop or take care of paperwork. While an 8-inch touchscreen comes standard, higher trim levels come with a 12-inch horizontally mounted screen. The Super Duty has embedded 5G, which enables faster navigation, Wi-Fi (optional for up to 10 devices), and over-the-air software updates — even while the truck is on the road.

Super Sized

The Super Duty lineup is big, but how big? Even the longest F-150 is still a couple of inches shorter than the shortest Super Duty. And at 266.2 inches (over 22 feet), the longest Super Duty is 38 inches longer than the longest F-150. Heavy-duty trucks are notably larger than half-tons. If you are moving up from a half-ton to a heavy-duty, knowing the dimensions of your garage and driveway is extremely important.

The Regular Cab only comes with an 8-foot bed, but the F-450 can also add a dually setup to this combination. The SuperCab and Crew Cab models come with either the long bed or the 6-3/4-foot bed. All F-250 models are single-rear-wheel layouts, and the F-350 offers the option of dual rear wheels. All F-450 trucks are duallys. Wheel and grille designs vary by trim level.

In addition, Ford offers the Tremor Off-Road package on XLT and higher trim levels. It adds a lifted suspension, skid plates, 35-inch off-road tires in black 18-inch wheels, and a different front end.

Favorite Features

Trailer Navigation
When this optional system plots a route, it factors the trailer’s size and weight to avoid low bridges and tight turns if necessary.

Onboard Scales
Using either a smartphone app or the smart taillights, this option will let drivers know if their potential cargo is within acceptable weight limits.

Trailer Theft Alert
This feature will alert you via the FordPass app if someone tries to disconnect the trailer when the truck is locked.

Engine & Transmission

3-Year/60,000-Mile Warranty

The new-vehicle warranty on a 2026 Super Duty is three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. Powertrains are covered for five years or 60,000 miles. This warranty stretches to 100,000 miles for diesel engines over the same period. These terms are typical for the HD truck class.

Safety Equipment

Trucks in this class aren’t usually subjected to the same crash tests as more mainstream vehicles. Yet safety is still addressed to a high degree in the Super Duty. On base models, we suggest spending the $730 to add the Driver Assist package, which adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and automatic high beams. Other active safety and driver assistance features available for the Super Duty lineup include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, a 360-degree camera system, and a blind-spot monitoring system that accounts for the length of any trailer that might be connected.
