  • Can be noisy when pushed

What's New?

  • New Twilight Blue and Trillium Green Metallic colors
  • New wheel options
  • Available interior camera that records

One of the roomiest midsize 3-row SUVs, the 2027 Chevrolet Traverse comes well equipped with intuitive infotainment at a relative value. Pricing starts at $42,795.

Seating up to eight passengers, the Traverse boasts class-leading cargo room behind the third row, as well as ample legroom and headroom to fit six adults. The design doesn’t stand out in any way, with function preceding form, but shoppers can opt for a rugged Z71 trim, a spunky RS, or a premium High Country model. A 328-horsepower turbo-4 can be initially slow to respond but the power remains strong at speed. Bright interfaces and easy-to-use technology mean users can keep their eyes and minds on more precious cargo.

We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of midsize SUVs, including the Chevrolet Traverse.

2027 Chevrolet Traverse Pricing

The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse has a starting sticker price of $42,795, with the range-topping Traverse High Country kicking off at $58,095. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,695 to $2,295 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Traverse is a relative value due to its well-equipped base LT trim. The 2027 Kia Telluride and 2026 Hyundai Palisade cost less, at the start, but Chevy fits the LT with a sharp 17.7-inch touchscreen and smart digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless device charger, a hands-free liftgate, heated power front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Then there’s all the driver-assist systems. Not many rivals, if any, can boast such a loaded base model.

The Traverse has average resale value for its segment.

Before buying a 2027 Chevrolet Traverse, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.

Driving the Chevrolet Traverse

When the Traverse was redesigned in 2024, Chevy dropped the old 310-hp V6 for a more potent turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder rated at 328 hp. From a stop, it takes a beat for the turbocharger to spool up and the engine to pick up, but at speed the ample power is at the ready. The 8-speed automatic dances a bit in its lowest gears, but in most normal driving situations its unnoticeable. Overall, the formula of more power and greater efficiency than the outgoing V6 pays off.

Weighing at least 4,504 pounds and measuring longer than most other 3-row midsize SUVs, the Traverse handles well enough, without undue leaning in turns. The ride quality isolates the cabin, but hammering the throttle can lead to noisiness. Steering feel is also par for the course, braking has quick feedback, and overall the Traverse is a competent, comfy cruiser.

The Z71 has an extra inch of ground clearance (from 6.8 inches to 7.8), all-terrain tires, and standard all-wheel drive (AWD) to give it good off-road ability for rutted paths and access roads.

Tow rating maxes out at 5,000 pounds.

Interior Comfort

The Traverse is a calm place to be. The digital displays stretch horizontally along the dash, limiting visual clutter in the cockpit. There’s plenty of plastic in the lower parts of the dash and outdated gloss-black panels on the console. Build quality is solid, and material upgrades are available.

The base LT can be optioned with eight seats, but most configurations of the Traverse seat seven with captain’s chairs in the second row. The latches on the top of the second-row captain’s chairs require more dexterity than the push-button seats on rivals such as the Honda Pilot, but most kids could still get them to tilt and slide forward without help.

The third row has 32.1 inches of legroom, same as the new Kia Telluride, and it has vents, cupholders, and USB-C ports. In our test driving, we fit four teenagers in comfort in the second and third rows.

The extra length of the Traverse manifests in the cargo hold, with nearly 23 cubic feet of space behind the third row. Most rivals have around 18 cubic feet back there. The extra cargo room should spare families on the go the need for a rooftop carrier or rack to tow stuff.

Favorite Features

Available Super Cruise

This Traverse trait of being a comfy cruiser is elevated when equipped with GM’s Super Cruise (part of a $3,935 package), which provides hands-free driving over long stretches of divided highways. It’s a safe, confidence-inducing system loved by roadtrippers like us.

Intuitive Infotainment

Since way back in the OnStar days, GM has excelled at telematics and in-car technology. The Traverse evolves that past into a crisply displayed, intuitive infotainment system. A 17.7-inch touchscreen blends into an 11-inch digital instrument cluster under a single pane of glass curved toward the driver. It’s standard, too, and sharp graphics, bright controls, a smart layout, and large icons serve up great responsiveness thanks to its Google built-in operating system. Yes, the climate controls existing in the lowest bar of the touchscreen, but Chevy duplicates them below with actual climate buttons and temperature knobs. We wish more automakers would either employ this redundancy or just stick with buttons and knobs.

Spacious Interior

The Traverse is nearly a half-foot longer than the 2027 Kia Telluride and it has the longest wheelbase in the class. This translates to the most cargo space behind the third row and enough legroom in the second and third rows to seat six adults comfortably.
