Updated June 26, 2026
The Chevrolet Silverado is new for 2027, with new engines, more capability, a totally redesigned interior, and updated styling. Pricing is expected to start around $40,000.
The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is poised to expand on what people like about Chevy half-tons. It will be available with more powerful V8 engines, the interiors are all-new with new tech, and there is an even stronger focus on off-road and work-truck capability. The bottom line is that all of the updates and improvements for this new generation of the Silverado will make it more capable, more powerful, and more refined than the previous generation.
Essentially, every aspect of this truck is all-new or improved. It rides on an updated version of GM’s T1 truck platform. The updated styling is bolder and cleaner. Interiors are more refined and more stylish, with new tech, and there is more space for storage in a new, innovative center console. The 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines are being replaced by 5.7- and 6.6-liter gas V8s. For you GM aficionados, that translates to 350 and 402 cubic inches, respectively. Even the trim lineup is new.
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is expected to go on sale at the end of 2026.
We anticipate pricing will be competitive and likely reflect a slight increase over 2026 Silverado prices. Price estimates are based on the most affordable cab and bed combination offered in 2026.
| Trim | Starting Price |
| Work Truck (Regular Cab) | $40,000 (est.) |
| Custom (Double Cab) | $46,000 (est.) |
| Silverado (Double Cab) | $52,000 (est.) |
| Custom Trail Boss (Crew Cab) | $56,000 (est.) |
| Trail Boss (Crew Cab) | $64,000 (est.) |
| High Country (Crew Cab) | $66,000 (est.) |
| ZR2 (Crew Cab) | $76,000 (est.) |
Here’s how the new trim lineup will look for 2027. The RST, LTZ, and LT Trail Boss are gone. In addition, the LT trim is now simply called the Silverado.
Work Truck
The lowest-priced, lowest-frills trim in the Silverado line. For the first time, it will be available with a diesel engine.
Custom
The Custom is one step up from the Work Truck, with additional features that include a dual exhaust and 20-inch gray wheels.
Silverado
The mid-range Silverado trim replaces the LT. We’re putting it here in the lineup based on 2026 pricing. We expect a similar roster of features to last year’s LT. In addition, Chevy announced that with the Silverado trim and 4WD, the Z71 package comes standard. The Z71 package comes with an off-road suspension, skid plates, and hill descent control.
Custom Trail Boss
For 2027, Chevy is expanding on and emphasizing the Silverado’s off-road choices. The Custom Trail Boss is the entry-level off-road choice. To that end, it includes a 2-inch suspension lift and 34-inch tires.
Trail Boss
The Trail Boss is aimed at people who want legit off-road capability but don’t need the purpose-built attributes of the ZR2. It comes with a 2-inch lifted suspension, 34-inch MT (mud terrain) tires, and a trim-specific hood.
High Country
The High Country returns as the most upscale, highest-luxury trim you can get. Exterior cues include 22-inch machine-faced wheels and a Tritan Satin grille. The new cabin design is elegant and has an aura of sophistication. Interior amenities include a panoramic sunroof, the first available on a Silverado, real wood accents, seat accents and colors that are unique to the High Country, and an available microsuede interior.
ZR2
The ZR2 is the ultimate off-road machine in the lineup. Its suspension has been tested extensively in off-road racing and uses a Multimatic DSSV setup with jounce dampers. It also has front and rear e-lockers. The cabin includes real forged carbon fiber trim, Torch Red accents, large digital displays, wireless charging, and more. The optional Bison Edition package adds rugged bumpers, multiple skid plates, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and more.
Chevy Silverado 1500 resale value is typically below average for its class. However, with this year’s redesign and new engines, the next-gen Silverado may hold its value better than the last one did. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
The new interior puts a higher priority on seat comfort and materials quality, and there are larger, more plentiful screens: you can have up to 60 inches of screens in your truck, if you want them. The center screen is now 16.3 inches on all trims. A 12.2-inch driver information center is also standard. There’s also a new front passenger screen for the ZR2 and High Country trims. It comes bundled with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror. The Silverado now comes with dual wireless charging pads. Another new cabin feature is the Multi-Flex center console. It can accommodate 25 liters of storage and can be converted into a workstation.
New Multi-Flex Console
Not only can the center console accommodate almost a cubic foot of your gear, but it can also slide back and forth and be converted into a flat workstation.
New Passenger Screen
Is this going one screen too far? We don’t think so, as this screen can keep the front passenger’s eyes on their own screen and their mitts off the main screen while the driver refers to it for navigation. If you don’t want it, don’t worry; it’s not standard.
Multi-Flex Tailgate
This feature is returning for 2027, possibly with some upgrades. Depending on how you fold it, this tailgate can serve as a bed step, work surface, bed extender, and more.
Super Cruise
Super Cruise lets you drive with your hands off the wheel and your feet off the pedals, keeping your eyes on the road. It works on more than 750,000 miles of specially designated roads in North America. It also works when you’re towing on compatible roads. We expect this to be free for the first three years, with a subscription fee thereafter.
There will still be four engine options, but for the first time since the 1999 model year, a 5.3-liter V8 will not be one of them. The new mainstream V8 engine is a 5.7-liter, one of the first in GM’s next-generation small-block V8 engines. The 420-hp 6.2-liter V8 is being replaced by a 6.6-liter V8.
Rounding out the line are the returning 2.7-liter TurboMax with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque (2026 specs), now backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission to match the rest of the lineup, and the 3.0-liter Duramax inline-6 turbodiesel, with 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque in 2026 model-year trucks. GM trucks will continue to be the only half-tons available with a diesel.
Chevrolet has not yet released any horsepower or torque numbers for the 2027 model year. However, Chevy is promising that the new 6.6-liter V8 will be the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the half-ton class. We expect the new engines to be more powerful, more efficient, and more refined than the current choices.
With the current model, payload capacity ranges from 1,520 to 2,260 pounds, and the Silverado’s maximum towing capacity is 13,300 pounds. We expect the 2027 model to top all those numbers.
