BMW’s biggest SUV blends genuine driving pleasure with 3-row practicality and enough tech to keep everyone on board happy. Pricing starts at $89,050.
The 2026 X7 is the only BMW SUV with a standard third row, and while that rearmost bench is snug, the rest of the cabin is legitimately luxurious. An excellent engine range and a surprisingly composed chassis mean the X7 stays true to BMW’s driver-focused DNA despite its considerable size.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving the current generation of full-size luxury SUVs, including the BMW X7.
The 2026 BMW X7 sees no significant updates. Production of the 2027 BMW X7 began in the spring of 2026.
The 2026 BMW X7 has a starting sticker price of $89,050, with the range-topping X7 ALPINA XB7 kicking off at $157,550. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $4,450 to $7,550 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The BMW X7’s starting price is competitive with that of the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. In its higher trims, it competes with the Escalade-V, GLS 63 AMG, and Navigator Black Label.
Before buying an X7, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. The BMW X7’s resale value is near the top of its segment. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
The X7’s standard air suspension is the day-to-day hero here. It’s comfortable enough for running around town or across the country, and height-adjustable for easy loading, but it also keeps this big SUV remarkably composed when the road gets interesting. The cabin is hushed, too, until you lean into the throttle and the engine makes itself heard. The X7 xDrive40i claims to hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, the M60i does it in 4.5, and the Alpina XB7 manages a frankly absurd – for a combustion-powered car – 3.9 seconds despite weighing roughly three tons. For the unfamiliar, Alpina is BMW’s in-house tuning brand, much like AMG is to Mercedes-Benz.
The X7’s fuel economy is competitive: 23 mpg combined for the xDrive40i, versus 21 for the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 and just 16–18 mpg for the Escalade, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and Navigator. The M60i returns 18 mpg combined, and the Alpina XB7 gets 17.
| Trim | Engine | 0-60-mph Time | Horsepower | Torque |
| X7 xDrive40i | 3.0L turbo I6 | 5.6 sec | 375 hp | 398 lb-ft |
| X7 M60i | 4.4L twin-turbo V8 | 4.5 sec | 523 hp | 553 lb-ft |
| ALPINA XB7 | 4.4L twin-turbo V8 | 3.9 sec | 631 hp | 590 lb-ft |
The X7’s impressive material quality and tight assembly put its cabin near the head of the full-size class. Heated multi-contour seats are standard up front, and second-row captain’s chairs, while reducing total seating capacity from seven to six, make the third row far more accessible. Bonus: They are also more comfortable than the standard bench. The X7 is roughly 9 inches longer and 3 inches taller than the X5, and its bold exterior styling ensures nobody mistakes one for the other. The design may not be for everyone, but it certainly won’t be called bland.
