About BMW 2 Series

The 2017 BMW 2 Series is the smallest and most affordable 2-door coupe or convertible in the luxury brand’s lineup. This entry-level Bimmer delivers all the modern conveniences of the 4 Series in a smaller, more affordable package. It competes against the Audi A3 sedan and convertible and the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan. The 2 Series coupe and convertible are each offered in 230i and M240i models, both with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The 230i variants get a spectacular 248-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and the M240i models use a sublime 335-horsepower 3.0-liter 6-cylinder. A 6-speed manual transmission is available on rear-wheel-drive models. All-wheel-drive models get the 8-speed automatic only. And for true high-performance enthusiasts, there’s the rear-wheel-drive 365-horsepower M2.

"I bought this car brand new about 2 years ago (M235i). It is an exceptional little machine. It is the perfect mix between sport and luxury. I have never had an issue with this car and use it as my daily driver. It can be a little rough on the roads of a city (especially if the city isn't well maintained) but that is pretty much the same of any non-SUV vehicle that is close to the ground. I would recommend getting the front and rear sensor packages, the front end hangs low and it is easy to scrape it on parking bumpers or high curbs. Overall, this is a great buy for the money."

"I have not owned my 228i long enough to comment on reliability, but fully expect the reliability and quality will be top notch as it was on my previously owned 328i and 535i sedans. My 228i offers a very comfortable ride, is very quiet on the open road and is lots of fun to drive. I am also very pleased with the quality sound of the radio. Choosing to purchase another BMW was a very good decision."

Pros: "excellent handing, good power, fun to drive"

Cons: "rear seat room a bit tight"

"I was fully intent on purchasing the new audi A3 quattro. On the way home from test driving the A3, I decided to stop at the BMW dealer and test drive the 228i--I was immediately impressed. The driving dynamics and road feel were notably better than the A3. I had previously leased an A3 Sportback and was quite happy with it overall, but the 228i's road feel is a cut above. I have owned it for several months now and it still paints a smile on my face every time I drive it. In fact, I have found myself taking the long way home from work on more than one occasion just to spend a bit more time in the driver's seat!"
