What Owners are Saying About the 2018 Nissan NV2500 HD Cargo
"Extemely reliable"
"265,000 and still going strong on my 13 Original Motor and tranny not missing a beat"
"Perfect van for a large family!"
"We bought this van in 2013 after our 2009 suburban gave us nothing but heartache. Many miles of trouble free driving. But before you buy one of these, know that there are 3 catalytic converters. The one’s in the manifold are prone to fail. When it happens, it’s $2600.00 to fix. Nissan knows it’s a problem so we called Nissan customer care and got some money back. If it happens after 70k miles you will not get any discount. Our’s went out at 63k and they only replaced the bad manifold’s cat. So I have to worry about the other side going bad on a long trip. That is not fun, basically ruins your vacation especially when you hear $2600.00 to fix and 3 days to get the parts and fix. Mechanic blamed me for purchasing cheap gas. I think that’s an excuse for shoddy engineering. I guess it was what they had to do to get it to pass 50 states emissions. Exhaust gases are extremely hot right when they leave exhaust ports. That’s where the cat sits, so it has extreme temp changes between engine running and not. Which equals wearing out before 100k. Mine looked like a gray rock stuck in manifold, supposed to look like a tiny honeycomb for exhaust to pass through. So it ran very badly this way."
"#1 - This is a panel TRUCK! NOT A VAN!!!"
"Don’t let anyone call your NV3500 Hi-Top “a van”. With nearly 2 tons (yes nearly 4000 pounds of cargo capacity) the NV3500 is a highway hauler. I’m a retired trucker and I like the flatter windshield, basic seating position and overall visibility factor. So many modern pickup trucks have vision distorting curved windshields and large vision blocking A columns, this is NOT the case with the NV3500. We’ve traveled through some of the highest mountains in America and NEVER experienced a lack of power. We’ve used our NV3500 Hi-Top for camping, cross country travel, material hauling (stone - lumber - etc.) We have shocked the Home Depot crew when we assured them they could easily load a full skid of cement blocks with the lift truck. In the mountains, the manual finger tip shifting feature is a plus climbing AND descending. Again, this a panel TRUCK with a full length steel frame. I recommend the factory tow package and eTrailer has “plug and play” trailer brake controllers that easily install in just minutes. On the Nissan NV forums you’ll note a front shimmy issue under hard breaking. It is DIRECTLY related to the front tires. It is NOT rotors, wheel balance and all of the other R&R suggestions. YOU NEED NEW FRESH FRONT RUBBER! You’ll find a BIG difference in MPG as soon as you exceed 60 MPH. The plus is, when you let off the throttle, this monster slows down fast! So the money you save on brake pads and rotors simply goes into the fuel tank! Big Thumbs Up from a retired trucker!"
