The 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is among the most efficient and economical cars you can buy. It also offers great tech and an unbeatable warranty. Pricing starts at $26,695.
The Elantra Hybrid is the most efficient version of Hyundai’s popular compact sedan, and boasts the best fuel economy numbers in its class. At up to 54 mpg combined, the 2026 Elantra Hybrid bests the efficiency of the Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
In addition to its efficiency, the Elantra Hybrid offers impressive technology and features, plus the assurance of a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
The Hyundai Elantra can also be had with a variety of gas engines, and we review that model separately.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collection of hybrid cars, including the Elantra Hybrid.
The 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has a starting sticker price of $26,695, with the range-topping Elantra Hybrid Limited HEV kicking off at $31,045. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $695 to $970 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is an excellent value among hybrid compact sedans. We think the SEL Sport trim, one up from the base Blue level, has strong features for the dollar, including dual 10.25-inch screen displays, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a wireless phone charger.
The 2026 Elantra Hybrid’s starting sticker price is several thousand dollars lower than the Honda Civic Hybrid and just a few hundred dollars higher than the Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
Before buying a new Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. The Elantra Hybrid’s resale values are about average. Remember, recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
You might not even know the Elantra Hybrid is a hybrid. And that’s a win in our book. It feels like an ordinary car, not one with a sophisticated gas-electric powertrain.
On paper, the Elantra’s 139 horsepower doesn’t sound like much (and it isn’t). But thanks in part to 195 lb-ft of torque, we found it acceptable for the kind of around-town and highway commuting this car will be used for. Furthermore, we really appreciate that Hyundai equips the Elantra Hybrid with a 6-speed automatic transmission rather than the more common continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) used by rivals. While CVTs have made great gains to feel like they are mimicking traditional shifts, there’s no need to mimic here, because there are actual gears. We find it satisfying.
Fuel Economy
At its best in the Blue trim, the 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid earns an EPA-reported 54 mpg in combined city/highway driving, or 50 mpg in higher trims. The former figure leads the class, while the latter matches the best the Toyota Corolla Hybrid can muster and still beats the Honda Civic Hybrid by one mpg. Another significant factor is range. The EPA says the Elantra Hybrid Blue can travel up to 594 miles on a full tank.
The Elantra Hybrid is classified as a compact sedan, but it feels a class above in terms of both space and feature set. Like its gas-powered sibling, the Elantra Hybrid has class-leading front headroom and rear legroom, making it a great vehicle for taller drivers and passengers. We love that even with its battery pack along for the ride in the chassis, the Elantra Hybrid gives up no space in its interior or trunk (which is roomy at 14.2 cubic feet).
We also love that the Elantra Hybrid has a real-deal gear lever and physical buttons for climate and audio functions. The 10.25-inch touchscreen (8 inches on the base Blue trim) is canted toward the driver. The driver’s area feels special in general, as it is divided from the passenger seat by a significant grab handle. Tell your friend up front that it’s not personal.
After testing the Elantra Hybrid, our only significant gripe is that the rearward view was a bit limited due to the high decklid.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
We love that this has been standard on even the entry-level Blue trim. We don’t love that you lose the wireless capability when moving up to the bigger screen of the SEL Sport and Limited models.
Bluelink
A standard feature (with a 3-year free trial) on the SEL Sport and Limited trims of the Elantra Hybrid, Bluelink provides remote functions like lock/unlock, stolen vehicle location, and automatic collision notification.
Dual 10.25-inch displays
One displays driver information behind the steering wheel, and the other handles the infotainment system at the center of the dashboard. These displays are standard on SEL Sport and Limited trims.
Hyundai Digital Key
Access to the 2026 Elantra Hybrid can be gained via an app on an Android device or via a key card for Apple iPhone users. This feature is standard in the Limited trim.
Adaptive cruise control
Buyers expecting to spend a lot of time on the freeway may want to consider the Limited trim’s extra equipment, which includes adaptive cruise control with a stop/go function.
Heated/ventilated front seats
While some versions of the gas-powered Elantra offer heated seats, the Elantra Hybrid Limited is the only Elantra trim to offer ventilated seats.

The 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is in the middle 26-75% for Cost to Own among all Compact Cars.
