"As a craftsperson who used to do craft shows regularly, my 2005 PT Cruiser was chosen on the fact the back seats come out and the large cargo space. For such a compact car, it was very roomy inside, and can hold a lot more than you think. I bought it used, and in the 7.5 years I've had this year, I've put the most miles ever, now up to 183,350 miles. However, it is a gas hog, requiring many fuel ups, making it costly. Plus, it required a lot a maintainence in the early years I had it, but then the car didn't need so much maintainence as it got older. I stayed on top of car care and took good care of it. At 10 years, this car is now ready to be retired. To be honest, I didn't think I was able to keep it this long or such high mileage. I would have dearly love another PT Cruiser but not with the poor gas economy. It is my favorite car. It's now on it's way to being retired/sold/junked."
"I own this car for the pass 6 years and it been a good car for dayli use, but use a lot of gas for a small engy other then that is practical an have good space, depends of the owner and the use but I think is ok car"
Pros: "Comfortable on long drives, low maintenance"
Cons: "Poor resale value - discontinued."

"We bought our first PT when they first came out in 2001. It was the first one in town and everyone wanted to stop you and talk about it. We bought a second one. This was used with low miles. I drove a lot of miles back then and managed to push both of them up over 100k each. Traded them both off for a new 2005 "base". By base I mean zero accessories. 10200 mile later and not regret.
Granted it doesn't get the best milage compared with today's market but low to mid '20's was not bad for 2005. It is in the shop today for the second time in all those years. Minor issues, new tie rod ends and steering sensor. Other than the normal brake pads, tires and battery, I have nothing to complain about. Maybe I am lucky the car has no options. Fewer things to go wrong"
Cons: "Not a vehicle I would recommend for a large perso"

"I have read more than several reviews concerning the PT Cruiser and really didn't relate to any of the bad reviews because I have had absolutely NO problems with this car except for regular maintenance. However, recently, I had to replace the TCM unit because it had just plain worn out. Other than this replacement I have had NO problems. Its been a very reliable vehicle."
Cons: "Costly to have repaired due to compact engine!"

"I really, really like "Betty Lou" but ever since I bought her in 2014 I've put as much into repairs as I paid for her, $3,000. She has 124,000 miles on her and drives like a dream, when she's running! I'm a short, heavy set middle aged woman and it's so easy to get in and out of the car! I love how the rear seats adjust for hauling small furniture. Yes, she is a BEAR to work on as the engine is so compact that things have to be moved before a mechanic can get to the problem. Would I buy another one? ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
