Toyota, Lexus, Subaru Recall 1 Million+ Backup Cameras

Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand recalled 1,024,407 vehicles because their backup cameras may freeze or display a blank screen. The recall also applies to some Subaru vehicles designed and built in partnership with Toyota. All of the recalled models are equipped with a panoramic view system, which is optional on some vehicles.

Toyota tells federal safety officials that a software conflict can keep the image from displaying properly.

Dealers can fix the issue with a software update. These vehicles don’t receive software updates over-the-air, so owners will need to bring them to a dealership to have the patch installed. Software updates are typically quick service appointments.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
