Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept

Soft-tops have some precedent in Land Rover/Range Rover history, most recently the Land Rover Defender DC100 concept presented at last September’s Frankfurt auto show. While some pundits feel that a topless Evoque loses the distinctive lines of the hardtop version, design chief Gerry McGovern assures us that “the Range Rover Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible.” Presumably, end of discussion. The convertible is based on the Evoque three-door, and retains all the features of the hardtop, including its exceptional off-road capability. Though it bears a concept label, various details suggest production readiness. And in the rarefied realm of convertible SUVs, it certainly seems more plausible than the Nissan Murano.
