The 2027 Lincoln Corsair returns less than a year after it was discontinued, but this time it will be a standard hybrid and it will be imported from China.
On Tuesday, Lincoln announced plans for its entry-level SUV to be offered in two trims, Premiere and Reserve, and one powertrain with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain. It will start at $48,790, with destination, according to Automotive News, and will go on sale early next year.
That’s at least $7,000 more than the 2025 Corsair, but that model was not a hybrid and it was not new. It launched in 2020.
So much more has changed in the geopolitical automotive landscape.
Last August, Ford Motor Co. announced it would end production of the Lincoln Corsair and the related Ford Escape to retool its Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky for a new lineup of low-cost electric vehicles (EVs). That includes the launch of the 2028 Ford Fathom electric pickup truck, pledged to cost less than $30,000 when order books open early next year, Ford confirmed earlier this month.
Also this month, Ford announced it would stop importing to the U.S. cars from China by 2030, ostensibly due to the onerous tariffs enacted by the Trump administration. But Tuesday’s announcement confirms it will import both the Lincoln Nautilus midsize SUV and the reimagined Corsair — for now.
What’s New About the 2027 Lincoln Corsair
It makes sense for Lincoln to re-enter the cutthroat compact SUV segment and compete with popular rivals such as the Lexus NX, Genesis GV70, and Acura RDX. It returns as a standard hybrid with AWD but Lincoln didn’t estimate its fuel economy. The pricey Grand Touring plug-in hybrid will not return.
It sounds like it may be built for power as much as efficiency. The turbocharged 2.0-liter hybrid system generates 305 horsepower. Lincoln was conspicuously scant on other specs. The engine is different than the 2.5-liter hybrid engine that suffered a series of escalating recalls in 2023 due to a potentially cracked engine block that increased the risk of engine fires.
Other changes include a restyled exterior with five exclusive colors and a stylish new interior, replete with available massaging seats. The panoramic cluster display on the Nautilus and Navigator is not offered on the new Corsair. The horizontal touchscreen mounted on top of the dash and other interfaces look much the same as the outgoing Corsair.
The brand’s BlueCruise hands-free driving system is also standard.
It goes on sale early in 2027 but can be ordered now.
