A good among greats
Even if it hasn't achieved quite the same levels of success enjoyed by the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, the Nissan Altima is a roomy, comfortable and efficient midsize sedan that trails only those two stalwarts in annual sales. Things don't get any easier for 2018 -- the Camry and Accord have been completely redesigned, and they're both terrific -- but the Altima remains recommendable for the right price. We expect Nissan to unveil the next-generation Altima within the year, however, at which point things will get more interesting.
A few observations from our full review of the 2018 Nissan Altima: "It’s comfortable, with a smooth ride and a quiet interior, and it feels solid and substantial. Unlike some of its competition, the Altima is also engaging to drive with good steering feel and response, although the Ford Fusion and Mazda6 are still more fun to drive."
Nissan Altima Shoppers Also Look At
The sportiest member of the Altima family is the SR. In addition to its sporty styling cues, the SR has suspension tuning that's designed to provide better cornering than with the other Altima trim levels. The Altima SR comes with a 4-cylinder engine, and is available with an optional Midnight Edition package.
