Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall order for nearly 1.3 million vehicles. It includes much of its lineup sold in the United States from 2016 to 2021. The recall will allow the automaker to fix an issue that could cause the vehicle to report the wrong position in a crash.
Affected vehicles include the 2016-2021 model year A-Class, C-Class, CLA-Class, CLS, E-Class, G-Class, GLA-Class, GLB-Class, GLC-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, GT, S-Class, SL, and SLC-Class.
Mercedes is aware of no damage or injuries related to the defect. The recall is the result of a 2019 incident in which a vehicle sent the incorrect position. Mercedes discovered a certain set of conditions could cause the same issue in many vehicles after an accident.
The fix is a simple software update, which is free of charge.
