  • AT&T 5G is available for the first time in a Lexus.
  • Other updates include a dashcam system and EV charge management functions.

While they were slower than most automakers to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Lexus and Toyota have made big strides with infotainment updates in recent years. Toyota’s luxury brand is preparing another tech refresh with the all-new 2026 Lexus ES, which is launching with the all-electric models and following soon with hybrid variants.

The new interface focuses heavily on customization, with a configurable home screen and individual widgets. Users can group widgets for frequently used functions such as audio, navigation, and weather for quicker access. There’s also a new Quick Control Menu that enables one-touch access to Bluetooth, screen brightness, and more.

AT&T 5G connectivity is available for the first time in a Lexus, enabling streaming via the car’s onboard Wi-Fi system. Users can connect a Spotify account to stream music, podcasts, and audiobooks, though subscription fees apply.

Voice commands take a more prominent role in the updated system, offering more in-depth control of in-cabin settings. Male and female voices are now available for the first time, and users can also get answers to basic math problems, in case long division becomes a challenge on the highway.

Using the vehicle’s external cameras, the Drive Recorder offers dashcam functionality and the ability to record 90-minute clips of continuously looped footage. The app records vehicle speed and location, and automatically starts recording when the G-sensor is triggered by hard impacts or airbag deployment.

Lexus electric vehicles get a new EV charge management function that lets users set charge limits, enable the external power supply function, and plan routes around charge points.

ES owners with a Remote Connect subscription have access to a digital key system, which can be shared with up to five other people. That subscription is also required to access certain other functions, such as app-based EV charge management and some streaming services.
