Jeep has issued a recall for 1,076,999 Wrangler SUVs and Gladiator pickups from model years 2021 through 2025. The company has asked owners to park outside, away from structures and other vehicles, until the repairs are complete.
The company tells federal safety regulators that an electrical connection in the vehicles’ hydraulic power steering pumps may be loose. That can create added resistance, heating the wires. If that heat spreads to nearby combustible components, it can trigger a fire.
Fire can begin even in a parked car, the company says.
The company is aware of 72 field reports and one possible injury related to the issue, but no accidents.
Dealers will inspect the connection and repair or replace it as necessary to fix the issue. Recall repairs are always free.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
