Ford is recalling 565,691 Bronco SUVs from model years 2021-2026 due to a short in the engine wiring harness that could cause a spark and potentially lead to a fire in the engine compartment.
Drivers should be on the lookout for smoke in the air vents, a cluster warning message, or flames from the passenger-side engine compartment.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this issue, but there have been 15 incidents reported. These include field, warranty, and customer service reports.
Owners are being notified to take their Bronco to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have convolute sheathing with abrasion tape added to the wire harness. As with all recall repairs, the service is free.
