BMW Recalls Vehicles Rear Light Failure

BMW is recalling 202 vehicles due to a faulty rear lighting system. The following vehicle is affected:

The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “the rear lamps may contain inappropriate firmware.”

This issue may cause the taillights, brake lights, or rear turn signals to not activate, increasing the risk of a crash.

BMW is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.

BMW dealers will replace the affected rear lamps. This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are.

Owners with affected vehicles will be notified beginning March 27, 2026. Also, a warning message should be displayed to the driver on the vehicle’s information system. Drivers who use the BMW ConnectedDrive App or the MyBMW App should receive a warning message on their phone.
