Lexus Recalls Over 140,000 Vehicles Due to Faulty Rearview Cameras

If you own a Lexus and have experienced problems with your rearview camera, parent Toyota has identified the cause. The company has recalled 144,200 Lexus vehicles across various models and years due to a rearview camera issue caused by an internal defect. Certain units of these vehicles are affected:

A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report states that affected vehicles are equipped with a specific multimedia system and USB charging ports that cause an internal failure, resulting in a blank screen when the car is put in reverse. A blank screen reduces drivers’ visibility when reversing, which could raise the risk of a crash. It’s crucial for drivers to back up carefully and manually check all angles.

Lexus dealers will fix the issue by updating the rearview camera software or replacing the entire camera if needed. As with all recalls, repairs are free.

Owners with affected vehicles will be notified by May 17, 2026.

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
