The 2027 Nissan Frontier lineup expands with an all-new Sport Edition package built off the SV grade, Nissan announced Thursday. Nissan touts the Sports Edition as the sweet spot between the SV and PRO-4X trims, with visual upgrades borrowed from the PRO-4X that allow drivers to take their everyday truck on weekend off-road adventures.
Sport Edition
The Frontier Sport presents a more rugged look, including a blacked-out lower front fascia, grille, and side mirrors, with “Sport” badging on the bedside and tailgate. The Sport Edition is ready to go exploring with black 17-inch wheels wrapped in Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires for added traction on gravel and other trails. Rounding out the package offerings are an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights, and front accent lighting. The interior features yellow-stitched black upholstery, as well as yellow accents on the door panels and grab handles.
The Sport Edition is available on the Crew Cab body style with a 5- or 6-foot bed. Like the SV, it comes with rear-wheel drive (RWD), while 4-wheel drive (4WD) is optional. The Sport Edition bridges the gap between rugged aesthetics and everyday usability. It gives drivers an additional option for an off-road capable platform without paying the price of the PRO-4X. The delta between the 2026 Frontier SV and PRO-4X is about $2,300.
What Else Is New for the 2027 Frontier
The Frontier will add Alpine Metallic paint to its color palette. Higher-speed Qi2 wireless charging is now available in the PRO Convenience package. The new Moonroof package is a standalone option available alongside the Convenience package on the PRO-X and PRO-4X trims. Otherwise, carryover packages such as the Dark Armor and PRO-4X R top the long list of options that offer a variety of customizations.
The enhancements freshen up the Frontier to stay competitive with the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Toyota Tacoma.
In the midsize truck segment, the Frontier carves out a distinct space by still offering two cab sizes, King Cab (extended cab that seats four) and Crew Cab, and the two bed lengths for the Crew Cab. The 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 carries on with a 9-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD). Four-wheel drive (4WD) is optional, or standard on PRO-4X. The base S King Cab with RWD has a max towing capacity of 7,160 pounds and a max payload of 1,590 pounds.
Pricing for the 2027 Nissan Frontier and the Sport Edition will be released closer to dealer arrival later this summer.
