The Mini Countryman is the latest model to take on a more rugged trim level for 2027. The Mini Countryman Untamed Edition will offer enhanced off-road and outdoor capabilities. The Untamed Edition will be available on the Mini Countryman S ALL4 in the U.S.
“Today, our customers are looking for a vehicle that supports them in everyday life just as confidently as it does on spontaneous getaways and longer journeys. That is exactly what inspired the Untamed Edition. It combines the hallmark Mini driving experience with even greater freedom to explore new places and discover more along the way,” said Jean-Philippe Parain, head of the Mini Brand.
Defining features of the Untamed Edition include:
- Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires for enhanced traction
- 19-inch light-alloy wheels in a bespoke design
- Textured protective films on the wheel arches, side sills, and bonnet to protect the bodywork
- Underbody protection elements finished in Dark Steel
- A roof tent, developed jointly with Autohome
- Increased ground clearance
- Trailer hitch with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds
- Roof load capacity is up to 165 pounds while driving and up to 661 pounds when stationary
- Intelligent ALL4 all-wheel drive (AWD) technology
- Hill Descent Control
- Drive-Off Support
A Spirit of Exploration
Holger Hampf, head of Mini Design, describes the outward appearance of the new Countryman as highlighting qualities that are already part of the Countryman DNA, including “robustness, versatility, and a spirit of exploration.”
The new front grille features “vertically oriented geometry” and features a Dark Steel accent color. This Countryman has a more powerful appearance, with a sculpted rear diffuser, matte-black protection films, and new side-sill designs. The wheels even take inspiration from classic off-road wheels, featuring five spokes and “MINI” in Dark Steel on the center cap. Other design accents on the Untamed Edition are also finished in Dark Steel. The Untamed logo features a mountain motif and is located on the C-pillar.
Natural, earthy, mineral tones influenced the exterior colors developed for the Untamed Edition of the Countryman. Frozen Nomad Blue is the first matte finish in Mini series production. The matte finish highlights surfaces and contours more prominently, creating a sculptural appearance. Other finishes include Hideaway Grey, Nanuq White, and Midnight Black. Choices for roof finishes are Glazed White or Jet Black.
Outdoor-Inspired Interior
The seats in the Untamed Edition especially stand out. The Vescin Nightshade Blue sport seats combine perforated upholstery with knit surfaces in the shoulder and headrest areas. Rock formations inspired the knit pattern, which is complemented by Cornflower Blue piping and decorative stitching. The Untamed logo is also integrated into the design. The dashboard and door panels also feature knit surfaces. A special color, Millennial Melange, combines dark gray shades with a rich blue base to create a distinctive and refined ambiance.
Dark Steel is found on the interior accents as well. The steering wheel strap, spoke, and other elements are featured in Cornflower Blue. Elastic retaining straps on the center console reference outdoor equipment such as backpacks and climbing gear. Natural rock formations further inspired the design of the rubber floor mats and luggage compartment mat.
Exclusive Camping Collection
Mini is also partnering with outdoor equipment specialist Helinox to create an exclusive camping collection. The collection will include folding chairs and camping tables consistent with the Mini Untamed design language.
Production of the Mini Countryman Untamed Edition will begin in November, with a Spring 2027 release, but you can reserve yours now. Pricing starts at $45,250, including destination fees.
