The sharp-looking Subaru Impreza Concept turned up last fall in Los Angeles, and now, the automaker will show production versions of the 2017 Subaru Impreza Sedan and Hatchback at the New York Auto Show. Judging from this teaser, it appears the next-gen Impreza will retain a fair amount of the edgy exterior styling and “Wide & Low” design elements seen in the show car — although the configuration of its “hawk-eye” front lighting units clearly has a somewhat less dramatic character.

The 2017 Impreza will be the first model to be spun from the new Subaru Global Platform, a modular architecture that also will underpin all of its future products. Also fitted with the latest iteration of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the fifth-generation Impreza is expected to introduce a new family of more-efficient, direct-injected, horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engines.
