2017 Ford Escape spotted

We’ve now got our best look yet at a mid-cycle revamp in store for the 2017 Ford Escape slated to bow at the Los Angeles Auto Show. In addition to updated nose and tail treatments, this popular compact SUV will get several new tech touches as well as some minor powertrain changes.

Beneath that camouflage bra, the 2017 Escape appears to have a more Edge-like design character that includes a new bar-style grille, recast lower air intake and bolder LED headlamps underscored with LED running lamps and fog lights — at least on the top-line Titanium trim grade pictured here. Out back, smaller tail lamps frame a mildly restyled tailgate and the updated Escape also gets several new alloy wheel designs.

Although most of the cabin details on this prototype were still hidden, the 2017 Escape is expected to arrive in showrooms sometime during the first half of next year with upgraded trim along with a revamped instrument cluster and several additional tech touches, including Ford‘s latest Sync3 infotainment system. While front-drive/AWD models and the existing powertrains are likely to carry over for the most part, there’s a good chance the current 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbo 4-cylinder will be replaced by the newer 1.5-liter counterpart that made its debut in the 2014 Ford Fusion.
