2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek offers EyeSight assist

Moving the technology marker for entry-level crossover models to a new level, the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek and XV Crosstrek Hybrid will add the automaker’s sophisticated Gen II EyeSight driver-assist system to the option list. First introduced on the 2014 Legacy, EyeSight uses stereo cameras to provide information quicker and over a wider angle than radar. Now boasting full-color 3D cameras, the Gen II system is teamed with Adaptive Cruise Control plus Lane Departure/Sway Warning and incorporates Pre-Collision Braking that allows it to detect and respond to pedestrians as well as other objects in its path. All XV Crosstreks fitted with EyeSight also will come with Steering Responsive fog lights.

Like the 2015 Impreza, the Crosstrek benefits from improved infotainment systems. The XV Crosstrek 2.0i, 2.0i Premium and XV Crosstrek Hybrid now have new 6.2-inch touch screens with rear vision camera, swipe and scroll multi-function control for audio and other features as well as Subaru Starlink smartphone integration with Aha Infotainment, Pandora and iHeart Radio. Stepping up to an XV Crosstrek 2.0i Premium with EyeSight or a 2.0i Limited nets a new infotainment package that’s more user-friendly with 7.0-inch multi-touch gesture display screen, and also adds SiriusXM Satellite Radio (subscription required), voice activated controls and two USB ports along with a color LCD display in the main instrument cluster.

There are no changes to the visual or mechanical makeup of either of these 5-passenger on/off-roaders that feature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and generous ground clearance. The 2015 XV Crosstek carries on with its 148-horsepower/2.0-liter boxer four linked to either a 5-speed manual transmission or optional Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission while the XV Crosstrek Hybrid nets 160 total horses from its 2.0-liter which is teamed with an electric motor fitted to its modified CVT automatic. The 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek and XV Crosstrek Hybrid models will arrive at dealers in December. Pricing will be released closer to their actual on-sale date.
