2015 Hyundai Elantra Sedan updated, Coupe departs

While a mildly revamped 2015 Hyundai Elantra Sedan has already begun arriving in showrooms and the 5-door hatchback Elantra GT will be joining it later this year, the Elantra Coupe will not be returning. After a brief two-year run, the slow-selling 2-door version of the automaker’s well-regarded front-drive compact has been sent rolling off into the sunset. In commenting on the Coupe’s somewhat abrupt exit, Hyundai‘s PR Manager Jim Trainor said dropping this de facto niche model to concentrate marketing efforts on the two far more popular Elantra variants was a simple business decision.

Although changes to the Elantra GT are still being finalized, the 2015 Elantra Sedan rolls into the new season with new value focused packages for the SE, Sport and Limited trims. The new SE Style Package available on models with the 6-speed automatic transmission brings exclusive black cloth seating surfaces, leather-wrapped steering wheel/shift knob, power sunroof, projector-beam headlamps with LED accents, a chrome beltline molding and aluminum front door sills at a $400 relative savings while the Popular Equipment Package gains a new one-touch express-up feature for the driver’s window. A new Sport-level Tech Package adds navigation with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, 360-watt Premium audio and Blue Link Telematics while the Limited Ultimate Package replaces the 2014 Tech Package and nets a $350 savings with the same equipment.

Pricing for the 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE Sedan starts at $18,060 with the Elantra Sport starting at $22,410. Upgrading from a 6-speed manual to 6-speed automatic adds $1,000 to either. The auto-only 2015 Elantra Limied Sedan opens at $22,510.
