The GMC Acadia is roomy and practical while demonstrating rugged capabilities and premium features. Pricing starts at $45,595.
The GMC Acadia takes the brand’s rugged-yet-premium identity and presents it in the form of a family-friendly midsize SUV. And we really mean family-friendly; the Acadia has one of the roomiest and most accommodating interiors in its class, with a third row you can actually use and plenty of cargo room to boot. In addition to its practicality, it can get pretty luxurious with features like Super Cruise hands-free driving, massaging leather seats, and a Bose 16-speaker audio system. Some rivals have efficient hybrid options, and some hold their value better, but the GMC Acadia combines practicality with style and comfort in a way few can imitate.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of midsize SUVs, including the GMC Acadia.
What's New for 2027
The GMC Acadia gets a few tweaks for 2027, like two new paint options (Ink and Trailstone Green), new wheel options, and a standard interior camera across the model range. A new AT4 Reserve package adds amenities like heated second-row seats, a head-up display, Super Cruise, a Bose 16-speaker audio system, and more. Additionally, the Super Cruise hands-free driving system is now standard on the Acadia’s two Denali trims.
2027 GMC Acadia Pricing
The 2027 GMC Acadia has a starting sticker price of $45,595, with the range-topping Acadia Denali Ultimate kicking off at $65,395. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,895 to $2,595 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.
MSRP | KBB Fair Purchase Price (national avg.) | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
$45,595 | $43,700 | |||
$54,395 | $52,300 | |||
$60,895 | $58,500 | |||
$65,395 | $62,800 |
Being on the more premium side of its class, the GMC Acadia is priced a little higher than more mainstream rivals like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Honda Pilot, and Toyota Grand Highlander. In the GM trio of midsize 3-row SUVs, the GMC Acadia’s base price is higher than that of the Chevy Traverse and lower than the Buick Enclave‘s.
Before buying an Acadia, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. GMC Acadia resale value is below average for the segment. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
Driving the GMC Acadia
Even when full of passengers, the GMC Acadia’s 328-horsepower turbo 4-cylinder engine provides sufficient thrust in city and highway driving alike. Not everyone likes the use of a 4-cylinder in a family vehicle this big, and it does tend to drone while accelerating. But in our real-world testing, the engine gets the job done, even if it can sound and feel a bit unrefined. It can even tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Ride quality is a strong suit of the premium-leaning GMC Acadia. Less so in the AT4 model with its all-terrain tires. But the Denali models deliver on their promise of offering a luxurious experience at a slightly more affordable price point than a comparable SUV from a luxury brand. The ride is supple, and the steering and braking are predictable.
Powertrain
| Trims | Engine | Transmission | Horsepower/Torque | Fuel Economy |
| All | 2.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder | 8-speed automatic, FWD or AWD | 328 hp/326 lb-ft | Up to 20 city/26 hwy/22 combined mpg |
Huge Interior
The GMC Acadia is one of the midsize 3-row SUVs that’s actually pretty roomy in the third row while retaining a decent-sized cargo area. It still falls short of minivan practicality, but it’s a good minivan alternative for families looking for something a little more rugged and upscale. Other competitors on the roomier side of this class include the Toyota Grand Highlander and Volkswagen Atlas.
Smart Slide seats make third-row access easy. When we climb back there, we’re impressed with 32.1 inches of legroom, four cupholders, two USB-C ports, and a pair of air vents. It’s still more suitable for kids than adults, of course, but youngsters will appreciate the extra room in the Acadia compared to many of its rivals. As for cargo space, there’s a stroller-friendly 23-cubic-foot cargo hold behind the third row. Fold down the third row and you get 57.3 cubic feet, and cargo space behind the first row is a near-class-leading 97.5 cubic feet of room.
Our Favorite Features and Tech
Super Cruise
GM’s Super Cruise is one of our favorite hands-free highway driving systems. It covers more than 600,000 miles of North American highways, feels natural, and can even do automatic lane changes, all while you keep your hands off the wheel and your eyes on the road. It’s standard on the Denali trims and optional on every other trim.
Smart Slide seats
The Smart Slide seats in the Acadia make it easy to access the third row, even when car seats are installed in the second row. It’s one of the touches that makes the Acadia great for families who will actually use the third row regularly.
15-inch touchscreen
The 15-inch infotainment screen in the Acadia is home to a Google-based infotainment system that’s feature-rich and user-friendly. It has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and it sounds amazing with the available Bose 16-speaker audio system.
