Car shoppers looking for generous passenger space can typically find a third-row seat in crossovers, minivans, and SUVs. The third-row seat can accommodate two to three people in the vehicle’s back third.
While a third-row seat is standard in many full-size and midsize vehicles, it can be an option in some vehicles.
Often, the third-row seat folds down into the cargo floor when not in use. Given the just-in-case nature of this seat, especially in the midsize classes, it’s occupied most comfortably by small children.
To access the third-row seat, there is either a center aisle in the second row between two captain’s seats or a second-row bench that slides forward to open the third row.
