A 60/40-split seatback is a rear or second- and third-row bench seat that folds down in two segments to increase cargo space. Usually, the middle seat and one outboard seat (the 60%) are attached and fold down together while the opposite outboard seat (the 40%) folds down separately. Each seatback can be configured down or upright based on cargo and passenger needs. The seatbacks are often manually released by levers in the tops or backs of the seats but are sometimes power-operated in more feature-rich models.
