Pros: "Comfort, ride, great in bad weather, solid."

Cons: "turning radius, front suspension, throttle body."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought my S70 from the original owner and it was always dealer serviced. Mine is a basic, entry level model. I have always owned GM or Honda's but I have to admit that this car has a very unique feel to it. It's easy to drive. Smooth and comfortable and everything just seems to be in the right place. Mine has 200k but the paint looks great. The interior is like new. Drives wonderful! The I5 engine has just the right amount of power and is good on gas. It's never seen snow but it performs incredible in heavy rain. Wet driving mode, traction control and ABS work like a charm. The seats are the most comfortable I have ever sat in. Trunk is big. Seats fold flat. I can probably say the only things to look for on a used one would be throttle body service, power locks and the front suspension. These cars are known for those issues. My TB was replaced by the previous owner. They also have a wider then normal turning radius. The I5 engine is one of the best out there. If you can find a nice, well maintained used S70, grab it. I think like any other upper end European car, If it has a solid maintenance record. That's important!"

Pros: "Great value, comfortable, good in snow, reliable"

Cons: "Cheap cup holders"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I purchased my S70 used with incredibly low mileage - 110,000 miles! This car exceeds my expectations! The seats in the car are extremely comfortable. The car rides smooth and conquers the snow with ease. There is voluminous interior space for passengers and generous trunk space. This car is an unbelievable value with plenty of features for the money. The SE trim comes standard with heated seats and an 8 speaker sound system. My car has been very reliable with no major mechanical problems. Overall, I highly recommend the Volvo S70 as a used car. I hope to keep this car as long as I can."

Pros: "Easy maintenance, reliable, powerful, fast"

Cons: "radio antenna is motorized"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought mine used with 86k miles - i've since doubled it's mileage. This car is powerful, responsive and allegedly safe - haven't tested that yet. Easy to work on by design of Volvo's philosophy. When my car ultimately dies (if ever) i'm taking the bucket seats with me and making furniture - they will live on. They're the most comfortable seat (of any kind) i've ever sat on. All cars have their share of problems - with these the issues are known and relatively inexpensive to repair (heater core will go around 150k miles/15 years = $100 and 30" labor - very easy repair. It helps that there's a strong online community of shadetree's willing to share their repair secrets - makes maintenance cheaper."

"We drive this thing hard, we are not the greatest at regular maintenance. The car is 14 years old with almost 285,000 miles! Original transmission, original engine, only basics replaced. It rattles inside on bumpy roads, the paint on the hood is wearing out but it is not garaged. It has been very reliable and strong."
