2009 Toyota Prius

"I love my Prius. Little to no maintenance costs."

Feels roomie, MPG, low maintenance, quiet
Not the best on snow or unplowed roads, antislip
Replaced breaks for the 1st time at 175k. No issues with repairs at all. Air conditioning still going strong. We've road tripped all over the US including Colorado mountains. We got great mileage. The get up & go is a few seconds. It's not the best on snow but we manage fine on plowed roads. I'm heavy/larger & my Prius feels so much roomier on the inside than other compact cars. I plan to purchase another Prius after this one.

2005 Toyota Prius

"No Major problems- drive about 5000 miles/year."

Still gets great mileage (better than 50 mpg.)
Road noise (but my tires contribute to that.)
Paint is exceptionally good. Change oil at least twice/year, try to adhere to maintenance recommendations.

2004 Toyota Prius

"Saved my life in Australia."

Long range and Toyota reliability.
Not the most attractive car on the road.
I bought this car used in 2005 because it was in great condition, looked very nice and petrol prices were the highest they had been ever. I drove from Adelaide to Townsville and because my GPS hadn’t been updated with all the most recent road work, I took a wrong turn. After 250 miles, the paved road came to an end and we were driving on a graded road surface. At 400 miles, there were no more street lights and no more cars to be seen - not even trucks or work vehicles. At 600 miles we were well beyond the range of any other conventional sedan at the time and our Prius still had a quarter of a tank. I was ‘nursing’ the car at this time which means driving slowly and using the batteries as much as I could. We even got out of the car at this stage on the highway to look at the stars and to admire the Aussie wildlife. There was still nothing except kangaroos around us. At 700 miles, the road changed back into a paved surface and we saw street lights again. Finally we arrived at a gas station with the Prius still chugging away and my newly fostered conviction that this was the best car I had ever owned. More than a decade later, my dad still drives this car around and he has never had a problem.Read less
