Pros: "Floaty, Great Value, Fun To Drive, Reliable"

Cons: "No Aux Port"

"I've had this car for over 4 years and it is the best automotive purchase I have made to date! I bought it in 2011 with 160K on it (I know) and as such, expected some normal problems. Not one. I drove this baby TO and FROM Northern California, a combined total of 5000 miles, and didn't have a single problem with it until about 6 months ago. Even then, problems have been so minor. This is an ABSOLUTELY phenomenal car. It drives well, and retains its value nicely. If you're thinking about purchasing one of these bad boys, DO IT. You won't be sorry."

"It has 296,000 miles on it and still runs and feels like a new car. I've taken good care of it re servicing, etc. I have never "had" to take it in for a problem. You just can't go wrong with this car."

"I'm still driving my '02 Avalon. It had nearly 300,000 miles when it slung a rod. I learned that my teenage son had been hot rodding the engine (that explains it). Anyway, I replaced the motor with a used one with only 105,000 miles for $3,000. It was cheaper than buying a newer used car and I love all of the niceties on my Avalon that I would not get on another used car. This car has been bullet proof. The fit and finish is still very good. The overall integrity of the car is excellent. Still drives better than a lot of newer cars. I'm still driving it over 500 miles per week back and forth to work. It doesn't complain and I have only had to keep it serviced regularly. I am currently in the market for a 2011 (or so) Avalon with around 100,000 miles. I will pass this one on to my daughter who needs a car. I have been spoiled by my Avalon and I am quite honestly a little afraid to venture out and give another car a chance to prove it's reliability versus the Avalon. If you are near 50 years old like me, get over your image issues regarding the Avalon's styling. Allow your common sense to take over and choose quality and reliability over faddish whims."

Pros: "Great Design, Comfortable, Reliable"

Cons: "Mediocre Gas Mileage, Poor Stock Stereo System"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I got this car as a hand-me-down from my mother when I got my license 7 years ago. Since then, I have fallen in love with the car. Everything about it has been great, and even though it's now almost 14 years old and has over 130,000 miles, it is still very reliable and I never have any concern about it breaking down. On top of that, the ride is super smooth and it is comfortable for all passengers. I have friends who actually will fight over sitting in the back seat because they say that it's as comfortable as sitting on a couch. The one thing that I didn't love about this car at the beginning was the stock stereo system and speakers, but after a $250 investment into a third party stereo, new speakers, and an updated subwoofer, the audio experience now matches the quality of the rest of the car. When it comes to design, I've got to hand props to Toyota where they are due, the car is beautiful. Now, this comes with the caveat that there are definitely more beautiful cars that have been produced since, but when you consider the fact that this model is 14 years old, you can really absorb the beauty. I've had many people tell me that it's more believable that my Avalon is a 2007 or 2008 model as opposed to a 2002 simply by how good the car really looks. If you're looking in the realm of cars from the early 2000s, you'd be hard pressed to find a better looking car than the 2002 Toyota Avalon. The interior design is also very nice, and on the XLS model you get a nice display that shows the date, time, compass, fuel range, and outside temperature. Below that you get your stereo and climate controls. The climate controls are all digital and offer dual climate zones for driver and passenger. Additionally you'll get heated seats. Once again, while this stuff has become pretty common, it's pretty incredible to find these features in a 2002 model. My biggest gripe about the car has to be the gas consumption though. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely not great, and varies heavily depending on the season. In the summer, I probably can get something like 16 city / 24 highway, but in the winter it looks more like 15 city / 18 highway. All in all, I usually get somewhere between 330 and 400 miles per tank, but then the tank will suck up over 16 gallons when I go to refill, so in the long run my average is probably right around 20-22 mpg. So, like I said, it's not the worst, but it's definitely not the best. All in all, I love my car and couldn't have asked for a better first car. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of it, and with it's track record I have every confidence that will happen."

Pros: "Reliability,smooth operator!"

Cons: "None"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I'm the 2nd owner,2003 Avalon XLS,Lunar Mist Metallic,Grey Leather interior.Purchased 3 years ago,from original owner with 60k.I've put on 20k miles on it.I've upgraded with custom wheels,new Michelins,upgraded to a Pioneer AVIC 5k with Navigation/Bluetooth,added a back-up camera,& tinted the windows.The Avalon is a "smooth operator!"I love the comfortable seating,the "his & her" climate control & heated seating,the memorized seats/mirrors,huge cargo space,power glass sunroof,27 Hwy,20 city.I owned an 08 Accord XLE V6 prior to the 03 Avalon.The Avalon,much quieter ride,much more comfortable seating,more interior space.The 08-10 Accord V6 were being sued nationwide,due to excessive oil consumption (almost a quart per 1000 miles).I left Honda,and have been smiling for the last 3 years."
