2026 Tesla Model Y Review

Lyn Woodward

Updated December 16, 2025

Lyn Woodward is a Los Angeles-based writer, producer and on camera reviewer, evaluating new sheet metal. Driver’s Ed was the easiest A she ever earned, maybe that’s because she learned how to shift her mom’s manual 1977 Toyota Corolla SR5 liftback from the passenger seat when she was just 14. She's the proud owner/mechanic of a 1967 Porsche 912 that she’s restoring herself. She’ll talk about cars with anyone and loves helping people figure out which car is right for them. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, MotorTrend, Automobile Magazine, Hagerty Driver’s Club, Hooniverse, Panorama Magazine, The Drive and many more. Before writing about cars, she answered Hollywood’s call and wrote three made-for-television movies. Her superpowers are parallel parking and folding fitted sheets.

Pros

  • Competitive range
  • Comprehensive advanced technology package
  • Lower price than previous model year

Cons

  • No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity
  • Occasionally questionable build quality
  • More options from legacy car companies

What's New?

  • The Juniper edition is a carry-over from the 2025 model year.
  • Impressive Performance model now available

Regardless of headlines, the 2026 Tesla Model Y remains a best-selling EV, for which it can credit its solid technology, competitive range, and affordability.

Tesla’s Model Y remains one of the longest-range electric SUVs on the market, particularly in its class, making it one of the most popular. Despite its well-liked status, we do still hear complaints of build quality on the Model Y. The Juniper update for 2025 improved on many of those issues as well as addressing comfort concerns, keeping it on the top of people’s EV shopping list. Pricing starts at $41,630.

2026 Tesla Model Y Pricing

The 2026 Tesla Model Y has a starting sticker price of $46,380, with the range-topping Model Y Launch Series Long Range kicking off at $61,380. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $880 to $1,180 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.
