The third row in a midsize luxury SUV is often an afterthought. That’s not the case in the Lexus TX. It has a third row that families can actually use, plus it has a useful 20.2-cubic-foot cargo hold behind the third row. We can attest that the TX can haul all of the kids, plus a load of groceries, all while coddling its occupants in comfort and class.
2. Powertrain Variety
We always like to see variety under the hood, and the Lexus TX has plenty. The standard turbo 4-cylinder in the TX 350 is perfectly suitable for getting around town and cruising on the highway. The hybrid TX 500h is easy to recommend if your budget allows it, since it improves both performance and fuel economy, netting up to 27 combined mpg. Finally, there’s the plug-in hybrid TX 550h+, which makes 404 horsepower and can travel up to 33 miles on electricity alone.
3. Stellar Resale Value
Lexus is the perennial winner of our Best Resale Value Award for a luxury brand. True to form, the Lexus TX has outstanding resale value; it holds its value better than the Acura MDX, the Infiniti QX60, and all of its fancy European rivals. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
