The 2025 Nissan Rogue: Who Is This Car For?

The 2025 Nissan Rogue is a compact SUV, which means it competes in the most popular segment of vehicles that includes other household names like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Where every one of the Rogue’s roughly dozen competitors offers a 4-cylinder engine, the Rogue employs a turbocharged 3-cylinder. Nissan has managed to get similar power as competitors from this engine, yet with one less cylinder, it achieves better fuel economy: up to 33 mpg combined. This makes the Nissan Rogue a great choice for buyers seeking a compact SUV with high fuel efficiency, plus good technology, super comfortable front seats, and family-friendly features.

This generation of Rogue debuted for 2021 and received a freshening last year. That puts it in the later years of this current lifecycle, yet it remains competitive with rivals. Where the Rogue lags is in powertrain options. The Rogue’s 3-cylinder engine is efficient, but it’s also the only choice. Rivals like CR-V, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Subaru Forester, and Mazda CX-50 offer hybrid powertrains, and the new 2026 RAV4 will get a hybrid powertrain exclusively. Still, we like the way the Rogue drives, along with attributes like its wide-opening rear doors that make it easier to load passengers and pets,  Zero Gravity front seats, and the optional ProPilot Assist 2.1 system that allows hands-free driving on certain roads. The Rogue also boasts some of the best cargo room in its class, over 74 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
