At that mid-$30k starting price, a few standard features that come even in the base Acura ADX include a 190-horsepower turbocharged engine — which strikes a nice balance of performance and efficiency — a wireless charging pad, a power moonroof, a power liftgate, heated front seats, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The ADX is also a safe SUV, coming standard with the AcuraWatch suite of driver assistance tech features. Outstanding Resale Value
In the subcompact luxury SUV segment, the Lexus UX holds its value better than any of its rivals. However, the Acura ADX comes in an impressive second place. Reasonable Fuel Costs
The Acura ADX is rated at 26 city/31 highway/28 combined mpg with front-wheel drive (FWD). If you pay an extra $2,000 for all-wheel drive (AWD), then all of those ratings are reduced by one mpg. Premium gas is recommended, resulting in an EPA-estimated monthly fuel cost between $225 and $233 for the ADX. Of course, your results can vary greatly depending on gas prices in your area and your driving habits.
The fuel economy ratings and estimated fuel costs of the Acura ADX are average for its class, very similar to those of the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40. The Lexus UX is a hybrid that doesn’t require premium gas, resulting in significantly lower fuel cost estimates than most in this class, including the ADX. However, there’s a trade-off for the Lexus hybrid’s efficiency. The UX and ADX have very similar horsepower ratings, but the ADX has much more torque, resulting in more eager acceleration and a sportier driving character overall. On the practical side, the Acura also has much more interior space than the Lexus.
Verdict
Class-leading affordability, near-class-leading resale value, excellent safety scores, and average fuel costs add up to a favorable value proposition for the Acura ADX. Anyone in the market for a subcompact SUV with a luxury car budget, but still loves a good deal, the Acura ADX is a must-test-drive.
