Beauty, opulence, and speed. It’s a rare combination, but one found in the new GranTurismo. It’s a luxury coupe with supercar power, and we think a lot of people will find the looks agreeable. Maserati has recreated one of its most evocative cars and set it on a new trajectory. As well as a couple of gasoline-powered variants, there’s also the GranTurismo Folgore, an all-electric version with 761 horsepower. Folgore is Italian for lightning, by the way.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this collection of luxury cars, including the maserati GranTurismo.
This year represents an all-new generation of the Maserati GranTurismo luxury sports coupe. It’s been five years between now and when the previous generation was discontinued. This fresh model employs the same engine as Maserati’s MC20 supercar. Unless it’s the Folgore, where three electric motors provide the thrills.
2024 Maserati GranTurismo pricing starts at $90,400 for the GranTurismo Modena Coupe 2D, which had a starting MSRP of $165,995 when new. The range-topping 2024 GranTurismo Trofeo Coupe 2D starts at $104,000 today, originally priced from $197,995.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2024 Maserati GranTurismo models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The GranTurismo’s rivals have varying degrees of comfort (or discomfort) for rear passengers but hold plenty of thrills for the driver. The Porsche 911 is the evergreen, ever-wonderful sports car. The 572-horsepower 911 Turbo starts at $197.2K. The BMW 8 Series Coupe starts at around $91K, but a closer contender might be the 617-horsepower M8 Competition Coupe from $139K. The new-for-2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe opens with 469 horsepower and should start at around $150K, but that’s not the most muscular or expensive variant. Looking at some less obvious choices, the Lexus LC 500 is about $99K, and the Nissan GT-R begins at $121K. Or there’s always the Bentley Continental GT from around $240K. Before buying a new GranTurismo luxury sports car, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying.
In Modena trim, the new Maserati GranTurismo comes with a perfectly energetic 483 horsepower from its turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. It will sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. That’s fast in anyone’s book. And the 542-horsepower Trofeo version shaves nearly a half-second from that time. Then again, a BMW M8 Competition Coupe has 617 horsepower and does the dash in three seconds flat, while the Porsche 911 Turbo packs 576 horsepower and can claim a time of 2.7 seconds. Maserati says the 761-horsepower GranTurismo Folgore can hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. Lightning, indeed. Adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive are fitted standard across the line.
If this matters, the Modena and Trofeo models are more frugal with premium gasoline than the BMW M8 Competition Coupe and Porsche 911 Turbo. The Maserati cars achieve 21 mpg in combined city/highway driving. The German rivals both return 17 mpg combined. We don’t have any official range or charging figures for the Folgore yet, but it has an 800-volt system that bodes well for fast recharge times.
Maserati does this luxury sports car thing really well. The cabin steers a finely judged line between modernity and tradition. There are two screens in the center console, plus a digital driver information display, and the entire dash keeps clutter to a contemporary minimum. Yet there’s diamond-stitched leather upholstery as standard — as it should be for this price. We love the engine start button set into the steering wheel — it looks exciting, like a racecar’s. Oh, and the all-electric Folgore comes with more sustainable simulated leather. In a typical coupe, the front seats are fine, and the back seats are usually awful. That’s not the case with the 2024 GranTurismo. Through ingenious packaging, Maserati promises enough space for four 6-footers — plus some of their luggage. The trunk area is 10.9 cubic feet, about the same as the Genesis G70 luxury compact sedan. Or 9.5 cubic feet in the Folgore — that battery has to go somewhere.
It has to be said that this new Maserati GranTurismo doesn’t look wildly different from its predecessor. The headlights are an obvious change, but there are still those three air vents on each front fender — a Maserati hallmark. And it definitely follows the classic coupe profile. We’re not making a criticism, though. If we walked into our garage every morning and saw this ready to roll, we’d be complimenting ourselves on our good taste in cars.
Although the previous generation had a Ferrari-derived V8, this new GranTurismo employs a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. In the Modena, it develops 483 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. The Trofeo version is boosted to 542 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. In both instances, an 8-speed automatic transmission sends energy to a standard all-wheel-drive system. The GranTurismo Folgore has three electric motors that make a massive 761 horsepower and 995 lb-ft of torque in total. An 83-kilowatt-hour battery energizes them.
Maserati’s new-vehicle and powertrain warranties both last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This is typical among European luxury car makers.
Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is included. Sadly, blind-spot monitoring is part of an optional package of driver assistance features costing $8,300.
