The Lexus LX is the biggest and most luxurious SUV in the brand’s lineup. It carries many of the virtues of the Lexus brand, like low ownership costs and outstanding resale value, making it a practical choice in a segment not known for practicality or value. In a competitive class of full-size luxury SUVs, the entry-level trims of the LX compete with the likes of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Cadillac Escalade, and Lincoln Navigator. If you have more room in your budget, the upper trims rival the iconic Range Rover.
2023 Lexus LX pricing starts at $97,109 for the LX LX 600 Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $92,160 when new. The range-topping 2023 LX LX 600 Ultra Luxury Sport Utility 4D starts at $112,224 today, originally priced from $132,250.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Lexus LX models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The Lexus LX aims to blend on-road comfort with off-road capability with minimal compromise. In our testing, it strikes that balance quite well. The mighty turbocharged V6 engine always seems to have extra power on tap, even at highway speed.
The LX has what Lexus calls the “Lexus Driving Signature.” That’s a fancy name covering a wide range of features that make this big SUV drive so nicely. It includes Active Height Control, which can change the ride height based on driving conditions; Adaptive Variable Suspension, which is standard on all but the base trim; and electric power steering.
We found the Eco, Comfort, and Normal drive modes to yield too much body roll in the turns for our liking. Changing it over to the Sport or Sport+ modes stiffens the suspension and sharpens the steering to make the ride more stable in city driving. But we like switching back to Comfort mode for eating up miles on the highway.
As for off-road performance, the LX shines when the pavement ends. Standard 4-wheel drive (4WD), Multi-Terrain Select, and a locking center differential make it capable of tackling rough terrain without sacrificing luxury.
We’ve never sat in a Lexus interior that we didn’t like, and the LX is no exception. The interior design and overall quality of this cabin are excellent. Most trims come with 3-row seating, but the base LX 600 is a 2-row 5-seater, and the top Ultra Luxury trim has seating for four.
One oddity worth noting is that the pricey Ultra Luxury trim is the only one that has second-row captain’s chairs. All other LX trims have a bench second row with a center armrest.
The LX is packed with the latest technology. It has two screens in the center stack — a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 7-inch screen for controls like climate and seat settings. The infotainment system has excellent features like navigation and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but we had to lean forward a bit to use the touchscreen.
Although this is the biggest SUV in the Lexus lineup, the cargo area and available third row are a little tight compared to some rivals. For example, the Lincoln Navigator has almost 10 more inches of third-row legroom and nearly double the cargo space behind the third row.
Turbo V6 engine
The turbocharged V6 engine powering the LX is so good that you won’t miss the extra cylinders of the V8 in the older model. It has more than enough power and is suitable for off-roading while returning decent fuel economy.
Lexus Safety System+ 2.5
This standard safety tech suite bundles many driver assistance features, making the drive safer and more relaxed. Features include automatic emergency braking, full-speed adaptive cruise control, road sign assist, automatic high beams, and more.
Lexus Interface
The Lexus Interface infotainment system is a 12.3-inch touchscreen that’s user-friendly and loaded with features. It has navigation, SiriusXM, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Audio is upgradeable to an outstanding Mark Levinson 25-speaker system.
Multi-Terrain Select
This feature improves the off-road capabilities of the Lexus LX. On top of standard 4WD and a locking center differential, this feature lets the driver choose from six off-road modes: Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, and Rock, making this SUV ready for anything.
F-Sport Handling
The sporty F-Sport Handling model is more than just an appearance package. On top of the stylish black grille and 22-inch wheels, it has a Torsen limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned adaptive variable suspension, and performance dampers for a sportier ride.
Ultra Luxury
The top Ultra Luxury model lives up to its name. This posh 4-seat SUV has premium features like diamond-stitch semi-aniline leather seating, a rear entertainment center, heated and ventilated reclining rear seats, a power ottoman for the rear passenger-side seat, and much more.
With last year’s redesign, the LX ditched the traditional V8 for a turbocharged V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It boasts impressive performance and decent fuel economy for such a big SUV, especially compared to its inefficient, V8-powered predecessor.
Four-wheel drive comes standard on every LX.

The Lexus LX is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. This coverage is slightly better than what’s typical among luxury brands and the LX’s competitors.

Pre-collision system
Standard on the LX 600 is the latest version of Toyota and Lexus’ pre-collision system, which includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and can detect pedestrians and bicyclists.
Radar cruise control
The standard radar cruise control system in the LX 600 can only be activated at speeds above 30 mph but can maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front of it at speeds down to 0 mph, then can get going again from a dead stop. Think bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Lane-departure alert with steering assist
The LX’s standard lane-departure mitigation system functions at speeds above 32 mph. It actively works to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane and can sense any inadvertent departures from it. At this point, the system will attempt to make steering corrections while also alerting the driver via a visual warning paired with either steering wheel vibrations or an audible alert.
