The Land Rover Range Rover is a full-size luxury SUV with legendary off-road prowess and a high-tech, high-society interior. Pricing starts at $109,375.
A vehicle of monumental proportions, the Range Rover is the full-size SUV of choice for the well-heeled image-conscious driver. Although somewhat of a unicorn on narrow boulder-strewn trails, the Range Rover’s scarcity on super-difficult off-road venues has everything to do with its price and gentrified owner base, and nothing to do with any shortfall in its capability. On the contrary, its off-road prowess is legendary. So, if you have the financial wherewithal, demand a pampered passenger experience, and are cultivating a town-and-country image, the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover checks the boxes.
We’ve logged hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of full-size luxury SUVs, including the Range Rover.
Land Rover heaped on many changes to the 2024 Range Rover, including two new drivetrains and an improved infotainment system, among other things. A fully electric version will arrive for 2025, which we review separately. But so far in 2025, the biggest Range Rover news is the addition of a new P550e plug-in hybrid variant. This PHEV is called the SE P550e. It has the same powertrain as the previously available Autobiography P550e, which made 542 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This PHEV achieves 53 miles of all-electric range.
The 2025 Range Rover also sees some packages and options change availability. The most notable is that illuminated treadplates are now standard across the lineup, deployable side steps are now a factory option, and there’s a new walk-away and approach automatic lock/unlock system.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover has a starting sticker price of $109,375, with the range-topping Range Rover P615 SV LWB kicking off at $235,475. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,489 to $5,431 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Several rivals are less expensive yet still luxurious and capable, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, and Lexus LX, or even the bigger Jeep Grand Wagoneer (high $80,000 range), Cadillac Escalade, and Lincoln Navigator (low $80,000 range).
Another form of competition, though, sits in a higher echelon. Like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class (from around $140,000), Bentley Bentayga (about $265,000), and Rolls-Royce Cullinan (good luck getting change back from $360,000).
Before buying a new Range Rover luxury SUV, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying. If it matters, the Lexus LX tends to have stronger resale values, but the Range Rover is not far off. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
Even the least muscular 6-cylinder Range Rover has a decent 394 hp under its hood. Beyond this point, power escalates to the SV’s 606-hp V8. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid drivetrain has plenty of thrust and can run for 53 miles on battery power alone. A standard air suspension helps keep every journey smooth, with the Range Rover treating every bump as if it were an insignificant fruit fly, maintaining a calm serenity in the cabin at all times. We’ve also found that the all-wheel steering is great for tight maneuvers, like parking in a public garage, and makes the Range Rover feel even more agile on open roads.
Fuel economy varies according to the drivetrain and wheelbase length. At the high end of the mileage scale is the plug-in hybrid, posting 51 MPGe in electric mode and then 21 mpg when operating as a hybrid. Among the gasoline-only Range Rover models, the 6-cylinder engine tops the list, delivering 20 mpg. The base turbo V8 manages 19 mpg, while the twin-turbo V8 in the SV gets 18 mpg. Premium gasoline is required throughout.
No wonder the Range Rover is a favorite among British aristocrats and assorted staggeringly rich people around the globe. Its cabin is the ideal setting to luxuriate, surrounded by buttery leather and classy designs while planning your next corporate takeover or castle storming.
All three trims come with either the standard wheelbase or a long wheelbase, which is the gateway to a third-row seat in the upper trims. With just two rows, buyers can use that extra space to indulge rear occupants to a much greater degree. Generally speaking, though, space is abundant throughout the cabin, even when there’s a third row in place. The Range Rover offers 35.8 inches of third-row legroom. That’s a bit more than the BMW X7.
Cargo volume is similarly generous. It only gets a little tight behind the optional third row, with just 8.7 cubic feet. The X7 offers 12.8 cubic feet, while the Mercedes GLS has 17.4 cubic feet.
The SV Bespoke program increases the scope of personalization opportunities beyond the already many and varied choices, so every Range Rover can reflect its owner’s particular tastes. For example, there are furnishings like white or black ceramic controls and folding tray tables.
If you think the Range Rover’s exterior styling seems a 20-year peek into the future, we’re inclined to agree. Although it’s majestic, it also gives off an alien spacecraft vibe. Lengthwise, the standard-wheelbase version is similar to an Audi Q7, while the long-wheelbase model is more comparable to a Mercedes-Benz GLS. Buyers have a wide palette of paint colors from which to pick, including an SV Bespoke Icy White with a satin finish — all yours for a mere $12K.
Infotainment system
We liked this system and its 13.1-inch touchscreen when it arrived a couple of years ago. We particularly appreciate the sidebars with sliding controls for audio volume and cabin temperatures.
Dynamic Response Pro
If you’re like us, you’ll appreciate this technology that mitigates the body roll this hulking SUV would otherwise exhibit when rounding sharper corners.
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control
We really like this tech that allows the driver to concentrate only on steering while the system controls the speed on wilderness trails.
Country Road Assist
This technology is part of the adaptive cruise control function, pairing engine power with the navigation system. It knows when a bend is coming up, slowing the vehicle to negotiate the curve safely. It can also respond automatically to changes in the posted speed limit.
Tailgate Event Suite
Thanks to the Range Rover’s tailgate being a 2-piece affair with the lower section able to take the weight of two adults, this optional extra means enjoying a polo match, gymkhana, or some other upper-crust, charcuterie-board event while sitting on leather-covered cushions. Will you be a dear and fetch a cold drink from the optional chiller cabinet?
Hot stone massage
Not really hot stones, but it feels like it when planted in the SV’s heated/cooled/24-way power-adjustable/massaging front seats. Glorious.
The first of four Range Rover drivetrains is the catchily named P400, employing a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that develops 394 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Next is the P530, a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 making 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. At the top of Range Rover’s powertrain mountain stands a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8, exclusive to the SV trim, generating 606 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Land Rover has christened it the P615.
The Range Rover also offers a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, the P550e. This pairing of an electric motor with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine creates 542 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Land Rover claims it’s possible to travel up to 53 miles using just the battery’s energy. The battery can reach 80% capacity in under an hour with a public DC fast charger.
Every Range Rover has an 8-speed automatic transmission and a sophisticated 4-wheel drive system as standard.
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
Land Rover’s limited bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This coverage is typical among European luxury makes. Hybrid batteries are covered for six years or 60,000 miles.
No agency in the United States has crash-tested or safety-tested the Land Rover Range Rover. However, every new Range Rover model comes with an array of advanced safety tech. For example, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 3D surround-view camera, active lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control with steering assistance are all included.

Emergency braking
If a frontal collision seems unavoidable, the brakes will engage automatically to prevent an accident or lessen its severity. This is standard across the Range Rover lineup.
Blind-spot motoring with rear cross-traffic alert
Warning drivers of vehicles in adjacent lanes as well as anything approaching while reversing out of a parking space, this is another standard feature.
360-degree camera system
Every new Range Rover SUV also comes with this as standard, providing a comprehensive view all around.
