The 2025 Land Rover Discovery is a luxurious midsize SUV with genuine off-road capability and standard 3-row seating. Pricing starts at $61,825.
The Land Rover Discovery’s off-road capability stands out even in a crowded class. The Discovery’s luxurious, high-tech interior with 3-row seating combines premium style and materials with rugged ability.
Like a Land Rover should, the Discovery expertly balances on-road comfort with its off-road chops. While some of the competition have more space, better gas mileage, or lower prices, the Discovery’s unique character justifies its loyal fanbase.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current class of midsize luxury SUVs .
The 2025 Discovery now gets fog lamps as standard equipment on all variants. Land Rover discontinued the Hakuba Silver paint option.
A new set of Curated Options is available, with two packages at launch. The For Dogs curation includes a quilted cargo space liner, a spill-resistant water bowl, a portable dog rinse system, and a foldable pet carrier. The Biking Adventures curation includes a roof-mounted bike carrier, fixed side steps, mud flaps, rubber floor mats, and a cargo space rubber mat.
Discovery S, Dynamic SE P300, and Dynamic SE P360 models now offer a comfort package that includes a solar attenuating windshield, configurable cabin lighting, a front center console refrigerator compartment, four-zone climate control, cabin air purification, and a powered inner tailgate. Those features are no longer available on a standalone basis.
Similarly, the Discovery S, Dynamic SE P300, and Dynamic SE P360 will also be eligible for a technology package that includes a head-up display and WiFi with mobile data. By the way, these features are no longer available as standalone items.
The 2025 Land Rover Discovery has a starting sticker price of $61,825, with the range-topping Discovery P360 Metropolitan Edition kicking off at $81,425. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,344 to $4,415 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The 2025 Land Rover Discovery is priced competitively with the handful of other midsize luxury SUVs that are also highly capable off-road. The 2024 Lexus GX, for example, starts in the low $60,000 range. The upper end of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L range is luxurious enough to compete with the entry Discovery. The top Grand Cherokee L trims start around $60,000.
Before you buy a Discovery, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you ought to pay. The Land Rover Discovery’s resale value is about average for its segment.
The default Discovery P300 drivetrain is no slouch, producing 296 horsepower through an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). This is plenty of power for city and highway driving, off-roading, and general use. Performance is on par for the luxury midsize SUV segment.
More popular than the base model, the Discovery P360, with its 355-hp mild-hybrid powertrain, offers even more pep for about the same fuel economy. The P360 is the better choice for those who regularly populate all three rows.
Despite its massive off-road talent, the Discovery is also very comfortable on-road, thanks in part to its standard air suspension, which raises or lowers the Discovery for obstacles or aerodynamics as needed.
If you want even more than the standard off-road prowess, the Advanced Off Road Capability package adds a 2-speed transfer case, upgraded off-road electronics, and All Terrain Progress Control, which functions much like trail-crawling cruise control.
The Discovery’s 4-cylinder P300 models rate 21 mpg combined (19 city/24 hwy) per EPA estimates. The Discovery P360’s mild-hybrid system nets 19 mpg combined (17 city/23 hwy). Compared to the new Lexus GX (17 mpg combined), the Discovery is somewhat more efficient, with the 4-wheel drive (4WD) 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s fuel-economy performance being a bit better than the Discovery at 22 mpg combined (19 city/26 hwy).
Premium materials and modern design permeate the Discovery’s cabin, giving it genuine luxury bona fides. But as pretty as it is, the Discovery’s cabin also speaks of rugged simplicity — just as you’d expect of an off-roader.
Both the first and second rows are spacious, with plenty of legroom. The third row is a bit snug compared to full-size SUVs but is pretty good for the midsize segment at 33.5 inches of legroom. Compare that to the Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s 30.3 inches or the Lexus GX’s 31.9 inches and the Discovery’s third row is comparably spacious.
Cargo space behind the third row is limited at 9.1 cubic feet. Fold the third row and that grows to 45 cubic feet. With the second and third rows folded, there’s 74.3 cubic feet of cargo space. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L, for comparison, offers 17.2/46.9/84.6 cubic feet, and the Lexus GX has 10.3/40.2/76.9 cubic feet.
Looking like a member of the Land Rover/Range Rover family is enough to mark the Discovery as a premium vehicle, and even the base models display some off-road attitude.
For those with a desire for even more upscale style, the Metropolitan Edition adds 22-inch wheels, black brake calipers, a bright Atlas grille, and other upgrades.
AWD with Terrain Response
All Discovery trims come standard with all-wheel drive and the Terrain Response system with off-road drive modes. The Discovery’s impressive off-road capabilities are at the top of its class.
Pivi Pro infotainment system
The Pivi Pro infotainment system has an excellent 11.4-inch screen and a plethora of features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, SiriusXM, and a Meridian premium audio system. It’s standard in all Discovery variants.
All Terrain Progress Control
This system takes care of the throttle, letting us focus on navigating obstacles and terrain during our testing. It’s basically off-road cruise control.
ClearSight Ground View
Another clever bit of off-road tech, this feature lets us see — virtually — through the hood for a better view of the terrain ahead or even under the Discovery.
Advanced Off-Road package
For those who want even more off-road capability than the standard Discovery, this package adds a 2-speed transfer case, Terrain Response 2 with configurable modes, and an active rear locking differential.
Posh Metropolitan trim
If you’d prefer a little more luxury instead, the Metropolitan Edition adds an extra dash of style and tech to the Discovery’s standard fitment. The package includes Windsor leather seats, heated and cooled second-row seats, a head-up display, 22-inch wheels, Meridian surround sound audio, and more.
The 2025 Discovery has two engine options. The base unit, found in P300 models, is a 296-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder. The Discovery P360 models get a 355-hp turbocharged 6-cylinder.
All Land Rover Discovery models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. A 2-speed transfer box is available as part of the Advanced Off-Road pack on P360 models.
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
The Land Rover Discovery is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. This coverage is typical for a luxury SUV.
Safety
The Discovery has many standard safety tech features like automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking aids, blind-spot monitoring, a 3D surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and more. No third party has safety or crash tested it.
