The Honda Passport is fully redesigned with a rugged new attitude and the capability to back it up while retaining its Honda reliability and practicality. Pricing starts at $46,200.
The 2026 Honda Passport is fully redesigned with a rugged new aesthetic and the capability to back it up. It continues with its predictable Honda virtues of everyday practicality but with improved off-road chops to compete with more rugged rivals from the likes of Jeep and Toyota. The all-new Passport aims for the elusive just-right balance of on-road comfort and off-road capability.
Power comes from a tried and true 3.5-liter V6 shared with the Pilot 3-row SUV, Odyssey minivan, and Ridgeline pickup. It produces 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque and has an unimpeachable reputation for reliability and longevity. Fuel economy is almost identical to the previous generation: up to 19 city/25 highway/21 combined mpg.
Honda’s latest i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive (AWD) system comes standard. It can send up to 70 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels and distribute 100 percent of that torque to either the left or right wheel. You also have seven drive modes to choose from.
Inside, the new Passport is well-equipped with standard features, even in the base RTL trim. Just a few include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather seats (heated in front), and a power liftgate. One nice touch that outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate is that six of its 10 cupholders can accommodate 32 oz water bottles. This is an SUV for the kind of person who owns six Nalgenes.
Honda is getting more serious about attracting off-roaders. It introduced TrailSport trims several years ago. At first, they offered REI-parking-lot styling and all-terrain tires, but not much more. However, the new generation of the Passport TrailSport is what Honda calls “the most off-road capable Honda SUV ever,” thanks to its off-road suspension system, unique AWD system, all-terrain tires, steel skid plates, and tech features like the TrailWatch camera system on the TrailSport Elite trim.
The 2026 Honda Passport is available now.
The 2026 Honda Passport starts at $46,200, including the $1,450 destination charge. The TrailSport starts at $49,900, and the TrailSport Elite begins at $53,900.
Old foe Toyota recently introduced a new midsize 2-row competitor, the Crown Signia, with similar pricing in the mid $40,000 range. It has no off-road pretensions, aiming clearly for the comfort market. Other 2-row options in that territory include the Mazda CX-70, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, and the recently redesigned Nissan Murano, all of which lean more toward comfort than ruggedness. Its new personality and capability suggest the 2026 Passport TrailSport is trying to come for Jeep Grand Cherokee buyers.
The 2026 Honda Passport has a starting sticker price of $46,200, with the range-topping Passport TrailSport Elite Blackout kicking off at $55,100.
