If you prefer your full-size pickups upright and rugged, as opposed to slickly styled and fad-laden, the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup should be pleasing to your eye. While it shares most of its mechanical underpinnings with the Chevy Silverado 1500, the Sierra brings a bit more upscale styling and features to the mix, not to mention the unrivaled Denali trim with its standard 6.2-liter V8. You can find similar features and style in a decked-out Ram 1500 or Ford F-150, but at the base level, the Sierra is pretty much on par with all of its rivals. Regardless, the GMC Sierra 1500 for 2017 has the muscle to excel in the categories that matter most to pickup buyers, namely payload, towing and horsepower.
For 2017, the GMC Sierra 1500 pickup gains standard Teen Driver, active aero-shutters and capless fuel fill. New options include tri-mode power steps, while low-speed forward automatic braking is added to the Sierra’s Enhanced Driver Alert package.
The 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 receives some major front-end styling revisions, as well as the addition of an 8-speed automatic on SLT and Denali models with the 5.3-liter engine. Other new options include lane-keep assist, power-articulating-assist steps and two new audio systems featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2015 GMC Sierra gains a new 8-speed automatic transmission on models equipped with the 6.2-liter V8. The Denali gains GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension, while Siri Eyes-Free and OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hot spot is made available. A spray-in bedliner is also available on all models.

"I've owned this truck for about 18 months. Used it for hunting, hauling, long trips, and taking my girl (and our kids) on the town. Ultra smooth and comfortable ride. Great gas mileage, unless I'm pulling a load. But, I can pull with confidence. Once in a while I'm tempted to look at 3/4 ton pick-ups. But I haven't yet. My family is all Ford guys, so they give me a rash about driving a GMC, and a half ton. I don't pull big enough or often enough for anything much bigger."
"I love the body and interior of the truck but the transmission has given me lots of problems it shakes and the transmission feels like its going to fall at least 4 times a day when it shifts. I have been to the service department 3 times once they kept it for 2 months. I'm going to bring it back this week and I have not towed nothing yet. I'm a conservative drive. I paid 58k"
"Truck is awesome;ride is comfortable and so quiet. Voice activated steering wheel controls are convenient. Lights in bed truck at night a nice feature. Step up bumper makes easy entry to bed truck. Steering is very responsive and makes both driving and parking relatively easy. Parking sensors in both front and back another nice feature. The V-8 SLT Z71 mpg on the road has been as high as 23 miles per gallon (straight highway driving). Back seat has additional leg room than 2013 model. Storage compartments galore- including huge storage bin between front seats. Navigation system is the most user friendly I have ever had in a car. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned."
