About Dodge Viper

Given the number of times the Viper has escaped being given the ax, perhaps it should have been named after some ferocious cat. Regrettably, the 2017 Dodge Viper SRT supercar has no more reprieves, and this year the manufacturer will pull the plug on one of the greatest V10-powered beasts ever to run on four wheels. As stunning today as it was when it debuted 25 years ago, the Viper is a purist’s machine, devoid of too many creature comforts or sophisticated suspension technologies that grace cars like the Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911. The manual-transmission-only Viper is a true driver’s car, maybe the last of a dying breed. Get one if you can, before they’re all sold out.

The biggest news for the 2015 Dodge Viper is the reintroduction of the "Dodge" label itself. Additionally, a new mid-priced GT model offers nicer interior appointments, and the track-ready Time Attack model returns with more available colors. On top of that, Dodge reduced the starting price by $15,000.

For 2008, the Viper STR10 gets 90 additional horsepower over the 2006 version (there was no 2007 model). Now at 8.4 liters (up from 8.3), its V10 is coupled to a stronger six-speed manual transmission with a racing-style twin-disc clutch. The latter two combine to both handle the additional power and reduce shifting effort. There are also new front fenders, while a revised hood features a larger intake scoop and functional air-exhaust vents.
