About Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab

Last year it was a new diesel. This year, the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado gets a new V6 engine mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The combination adds a bit of horsepower and torque, but thanks to the new transmission, there's no fuel-economy penalty. Also new this year is the Colorado ZR2, a specialized model featuring off-road gear that the most die-hard Baja 1000 watcher will love. It all combines with the Chevy Colorado's existing strengths: an available diesel engine that gets up to 30 mpg; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; a comfortable and quiet interior, and much more. The changes all help ensure that the 2017 Colorado gives no ground against its biggest rival: the segment-leading Toyota Tacoma.

Pros: "Comfortable, powerful, and fun to drive"

Cons: "Cannot replace a full size truck"

"I have owned Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, and Ford small pickups. I traded my Nissan Frontier, which I liked, for this new 2017 Colorado. I test drove the Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline, and both the 2106 and 2017 Colorado six cylinders. The Toyota was the worst of the small trucks. I really wanted one and purposely waited for the 2016 because it was supposed to be improved. Their resale is great, but I could not overlook how underpowered and horribly uncomfortable they were. The Ridgeline was nice enough, but it only hauls 3,500 pounds. Plus, the dealer would not work with me, and I could not look at it without thinking of a minivan. I liked the Frontier, and it was 5,000 cheaper, but I have heard negative things about the fuel mileage on the 4.0 liter engine. When I drove the 2016 Colorado it was nice, but the 2017 with its 8 speed transmission and new engine behaved so much better. I thought it was the most comfortable and nicest overall truck. The dealer worked with me on the price, and I bought the 2017 LT for about 1,500 more than the 2016 WT. I am very happy with it so far. I am getting 23.2 MPG around town, and I cannot wait to take my first road trip."

Pros: "Great Looks, perfect size ( fits in garage)"

Cons: "Narrow front seats, no sunroof or CD player option"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Just purchased ( Nov2015) the 2016 Chevy Colorado LT with 4x4, and all the options, fully loaded. I test drove all the competitors, including the 2016 Tacoma. Colorado wins on most fronts, the biggest negative on Tacoma was the seats do not raise or lower and you cannot get power seats. The Colorado seats do all of this. One negative, Colorado seats are narrow, more support is needed. Big guys will have a problem. Looks, power, gas mileage, and features, are all tops in the class. Some reviews on the 2015 said GPS Nav, Heated Seats, Ride Quality were issues, my 2016 has no issues, works great."

Pros: "Good power, very quiet and looks good"

Cons: "Light and 4 wheel drive switch"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"2015 Z71 crew cab long bed, 2000 miles. Averageing 20 MPG combined right now. Recent trip I got a high of 28 but averaged 24 for the whole trip, 90% highway, 10% city streets. Comfortable for my 6'4" 230lb frame. Only issues I have are with the headlight and 4 wheel drive switch placment, knocked them several times getting out, wish they were a pull to turn, found a paint blemish that I will address with the dealer and one of the back seat covers is not secured. I do think on the Z71 they should have added a few things like cooled seats, heated mirors, 2 front 12 volt outlets and back up sensors. Radio speakers should have be better but for me its a truck. Overall I am very happy with the truck, plenty of power, feels smooth with good road feedback."
