Volvo Recalls EX30 Over Fire Risk

Volvo is recalling 189 all-electric EX30 subcompact SUVs due to a risk of the high-voltage battery overheating.

The company informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a battery issue could lead to the buildup of metal deposits over time. That problem could lead to overheating, smoke, and potentially a fire, and cause personal injury or property damage.

Volvo dealers will inspect affected vehicles and, if required, replace the defective battery.

Owners will be notified beginning April 21, 2026. According to Volvo, drivers may receive a status message in the vehicle or a notification in the Volvo app that says, “HV-Battery overheating.” If owners experienced this issue prior to the recall notification and had the defective battery replaced, they can submit a claim for reimbursement by contacting their Volvo dealership.

While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they may not reach everyone. Discover whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls by checking the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
