Toyota Recalls 590,000 Vehicles Over Blank Displays

Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand have announced plans to recall approximately 591,000 vehicles because their instrument panel displays can go dark at startup. The company published the recall notice itself before the federal government had the chance to do so, and in the process, it did not specify which model years were included.

The company warns that the driver’s displays may be dark at startup. That prevents the driver from seeing speed and critical safety warnings.

To fix the problem, dealers will “inspect and update the programming of the combination meter or replace the combination meter with an improved one.”
