Tesla, Lincoln, and Ram come out on top in Consumer Reports’ latest owner satisfaction survey. Infiniti, Nissan, and Cadillac fared worst.
The survey asked 369,000 people who bought a new car from the 2018, 2019, or 2020 model years a series of questions about their satisfaction with their purchase, including the simple query, “would you buy the same car again?”
By that standard, Tesla, Lincoln, and Ram come out on top. Particular attributes of the car, such as the driving experience, cabin comfort, and ease-of-use of in-car electronics, were rated separately.

While there is value in the results, we should point out that, for every brand, most owners reported that they’d buy the same vehicle again. People are generally satisfied with their purchase within the first three years, it seems. After all, most buyers aren’t comparing their experience of their new car to the other new cars on the market, but rather, to the old one they traded in to buy it. Longer term cost-of-ownership is at least as important a consideration.
