Audi is recalling 18,853 vehicles due to a defect in the brake pedal. Affected models are as follows:
- 2019-2024 Audi e-tron
- 2020-2024 Audi e-tron Sportback
According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “The screw connection from the input rod on the brake pedal to the actuator rod on the brake booster may not have been performed according to manufacturing specifications.”
This issue may cause the screw to dislodge, making the brake pedal inoperable and forcing drivers to use the emergency brake to stop, and could result in a vehicle crash. If drivers notice the brake pedal doesn’t return to its normal position or detect a strange sound, they may have a faulty screw connection.
The company is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.
Per Audi, dealers will inspect the “pushrod screw joint in the brake booster and adjust the torque to specification.”
This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are. Owners with affected vehicles will be notified beginning June 12, 2026.
